I know journos hold themselves (delusionally) in high regard but it is funny to see the jealousy from this melt and him being triggered by a chef.

FIFA: Mr Ziegler, we invite you to attend the pitch providing you with a close feel as to what it is like being on the pitch after lifting the World Cup - please can you follow me down to pitch side so that ok can provide you with the relevant credentials?

MZ: No thank you. I don't think it right that I be receiving special treatment and receiving that particular insight.

What would my colleagues and the onlookers from arou the globe think?

Highly unlikely turn of events...........

The shoehorning of martinez into a article along with Alvarez is a bit of a reach yes he’s part of the squad but what mins did he get and what effect on games did he have,Alvarez on the other hand well you only need to look at the results After the first game and who began starting instead of coming off the bench.it’s a nothing article in a sense and only about positive PR for the rags ..

Scanning the web this morning, our antipodean friends are kicking off with the commentator for the WC Final on SBS. They said he sounded drained of enthusiasm for a game that ended 3-3 aet.

The person in question.... Martin Tyler!
Silly old so and so.
Compare the plonker to the American duo we had. Brilliant commentary, it was akin to an ice hockey match. Couldn’t help but be on the edge of your seat.

The over used and over worked Facebook Generation (not accusing you of being one) word “Amazing”. There was fuck all amazing about it, plenty of plastic supporters and less than full capacities. Some extremely boring games, (especially the group matches) some good ones and a great one in the final.

Not difficult to organise a Tournament where fans are charged up to about £300 a ticket, cheapest around £100. No booze apart from fam zones and hotels at £12 for a bottle of bud. £200 a night for a bed in a container, all the infrastructure within 40 miles, just the wealthy or obsessed need apply, kept the casual fans away. Also the realisation if anyone oversteps the mark an arrest could mean a very severe punishment without much chance of winning an appeal. Run by those bent twats at FIFA, amazing my arse.

Westernisation? I doubt it, the Qatari’s are very dangerous rulers as Marc Bennett found out to his cost, google him, his family paid the ultimate price because he dared jump ship to work for the Saudi’s.
I was there .....and in Abu Dhabi and Dubai !!

I'll only reply to one of your erroneous points....."plastic fans".

That will be the Argentinians and Moroccans then ?

One had to be there, and in the region, you weren't, I was.

Compliments of the season

If Otamendi was a flop I worry what they'd say about Mangala. As you say, he wasn't perfect and was prone to a rash blunder or two but he was never a flop and that season in particular he was immense. A good player for us.
He was far from a flop. As his level dropped off we moved on. Nothing personal, just business.

The 2022 prize for 'Clickbait headline of the year goes to.......(drum role)
Football Insider'
The headline on my phone states,
'Man City told Uefa overhaul needed after punishment confirmed'
Click on it and you get the headline
'Ex Premier League referee demands total overhaul after Man City punishment confirmed '

I know its my own fault, looking at stupid headlines and clicking on it but it shows, to me, how negative City stories sell clicks. Apparently Sevilla were fined for racist chanting at the Etihad, how that fits the 2 opening headlines I have no idea.
I deliberately haven't included the link, one half wit clicking it is enough.

We must make up a full wit then as I'd already clicked on it...
