I see chris sutton is doing another FA Cup prediction this time with Krept (who?)..

Yes, you've guesssed it, another rag from dat dare lundun...

Still not one City fan has been "invited" to do a prediction this season.
Ridiculous, just another reinforcement of the bias the BBC, Sky and Talkshite have for the Rags. You can switch any of those on or read their online content without being bombarded by Rag propaganda shite.

That’s why they have held onto their fan base because it ain’t the football. It’s Rag propaganda 24/7 365 days a year for the hard of thinking. That’s why Ryan illegitimate wins brother of the year every year.

Local Journalism and Click Bait - Damning Report

The UK’s biggest local news publishers have been accused of ‘"compromising the quality" of their journalism and a "damaging decline” in standards, in a Government report (January 2023) :-

https://committees.parliament.uk/pu...default/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

The report states that the quality of the stories they publish and their relevance to local communities has declined, as sensationalised news content designed to drive visits to a publisher’s website (“clickbait”) was incentivised to increase revenue under new business models. The big companies that control most local newspapers were criticised.

Unsurprisingly, Reach Plc, a London-based company that owns the MEN and many other titles, rejected the report`s findings which they thought were unfounded and somewhat puritan.

The above is re-enforced in a recent piece in `The Mill` ( a Manchester publication) entitled -

Down with cookie-cutter journalism

The writer told of how his University cohort were lectured on the collapse of print newspapers, redundancies, the rise of short form online journalism and, ultimately, clickbait. Although his journalism programme was apparently never so cynical as to teach the students how to piece together misleading headlines for clicks, they still had to understand that kind of journalism’s growing role in the media.

The above sets the overall scene of which we are already well aware. This is the reality. It is not going to change soon. We are already dealing with it but we have to do better.

The challenge to CITY, at every level of the organisation, is how to stem the tide of redtops manipulation of the media ,which they do by every means available, and become far more savvy in ensuring the proper and wide coverage of CITY`s many notable successes, both on and off the pitch.

CITY need to become clear and organised too - the club and the fans.
Hopefully the start of something bigger. You only need to take a quick look at anything from the men to Derbyshire or Devon 'local' papers to see the decline in quality, relevance and accuracy.

Most are now just summaries of social media posts. "One forum member had this to say..." and "another took to Facebook to vent their anger..." being commonplace.

The fact is that these journalists are effectively turkeys calling for Christmas. Often and more frequently I have suspected these articles are AI written, and clearly that is the goal where you can have bots instantly churn out material, of the same quality, by scraping sites for trending posts and subjects, following an algorithm, and hey presto new article.

Then pepper it with plenty of ads, remember when we used to get upset about internet pop up ads... No problem, just incorporate them into the article, make people read around them whilst being unable to avoid them and try to trick them by asking every 20 seconds to accept or reject the idea of giving away their precious personal data for free. On which subject there should also be a requirement for websites to remember your ad and cookie choices for a minimum time.

Fuck all to do with us. However media city find a way to attack us.
They also cant leave the winning penalty v liverpool as controversial, but have to mention the foul was outside the box.. suppose these things will even themselves up over time and liverpool will benefit from a controversial refereeing decision one day.

City could buy the papers! Sorted.

Example being after the World Cup Final in the barrel scraping Star, the headline was:

"Nicolas Otamendi accused of almost 'destroying Messi's legacy' - but GOAT saved the day"

On "Transfer Talk" on SSN, 2 rags and a dipper plus a Sky presenter whose allegiance I don't know.

Rag says, Chavs have spent well and been clever with their signings". What's clever about circumventing FFP, it would be cheating if that was us, how the fuck they are getting away with this I'll never know. Perhaps there's no outcry as it will set a precedent for the Dippers and Rags to go on a similar spree despite the latter already being the League's biggest spenders in the past 5-10 years.

It's always been about controlling the narrative. Sky's involvement in the setting up of the PL was always about looking after the interests of certain 'favoured' teams.
