Think modern footballers should grow thicker skins, the Kippax would constantly accuse George Best of being both a homosexual and a transvestite. Watfords chief backer was accused of being a follicley challenged rent boy. They took it in good part and was regarded as bants and the world didn't end. At the West Lancs Derby on Saturday the racist ( town full of p*** s) and homophobic ( town full of benders ) abuse seems thankfully to have stopped. However both sets of fans were singing about getting guns and killing each other is this any better. Going to watch Fleetwood play Forest Green tomorrow, can I call them dirty vegan bastards or are people's diets protected by the woke these days.

You are attempting to trivialise a term that is clearly intended as derogatory based on their lifestyle choice and sexual preference.It can only be described as homophobic when the term for someone who takes it up the arse is used as a direct insult and an attempt to belittle.

Its banter,but i can also accept that the gay community will find it very demeaning and hurtful.

It’s actually a term that describes young cheap male escorts, I might seem I’m attempting to trivialise it because I actually think it is a trivial insult and not overly offensive to anyone.

I think if that can’t be sang at games, the rivalries of clubs is going to be in trouble.

Take the Utd lukaku chant that got them in trouble for suggesting he had a large dick.

I don’t know (and half my family are black) a single black person who was offended by that, they all thought it was funny.

Yet those who aren’t in the minority group got it cancelled on their behalf.

I have never understood the Chelsea rent boys chant. It is offensive but why Chelsea? It just seems random. It has been sung since the 80s. I don’t get it.

The area of Westminster they reside,i believe.

A quick google search reveals that Earls Court in Chelsea was one of the first places in London where openly homosexual men would socialise in bars and so the area soon attracted rent boys “plying their wares”

You are right.....but that is a society long gone,for better or worse.

In the mid-60s we used to refer to Chelsea as the 'West End Arrivistes'.. footy 'bantz' in those days was much more nuanced and sophisticated than these crude, 'internet warrior' led times..(!!)
