Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio appeared on Centro Suono Sport this afternoon and, again, discussed AS Roma’s potential transfer dealings:
How do things stand with Benatia?
“The player was expecting different treatment. He didn’t say he wants to leave. Roma don’t want to double his salary. There should be talks with the player; it’s not best to keep an unhappy player. It’s necessary to talk to him, and with a little common sense, you can find solutions. His statements were strong, now I’m expecting the club to make a move. If you (Benatia) have bought a home in Rome, it’s because you want to stay.”
Does Dodo’s injury change Sabatini’s plans?
“It’s absolutely necessary to add to the left with one or two players. Adriano could leave Barcelona, but it’ll be for at least €12m-13m. Juventus is also aware (of him). He’s an important player, so is Filipe Luis, but everyone wants him. Kolarov earns €4m and I know that he is talking with Bayern Munich and when there are certain competitors, you can not even get into the running.”
Grenier?
“He’s a very good midfielder, but I think Lyon will give one away between him and Gonalons, but he’s an alternative to Pjanic.”
Striker?
“I expect something on Cerci. He’s (Cerci) pushing for it and he’s very willing. I don’t know if it’ll be difficult to find an agreement with Cairo (Torino’s president). But given the difficulties for Iturbe, who Real is pushing for, I expect that Roma will give it a try (for Cerci). I don’t know how much they’re looking for a center foward. There are no names that there are actual negotiations for. Regarding Destro to Inter, there is nothing.”
Is Ljajic leaving?
“I’m aware of Atletic Madrid, but they wanted him last year too, but now the train has passed. I can’t see other teams on him. You have the Champions League and need wide attackers and he’d be very useful.”
