Melbourne City FC Thread

I'm sure Khaldoon and Soriano will be absolutely thrilled to read that Bluemoon is doing its bit to encourage the success of CFG by slapping fans of other CFG clubs around and then when they get upset about it, asking them why they aren't enjoying being slapped around.

Out of interest, if we were to expand to South America and buy a team such as Newell Old Boys or Boca or whatever, or even were to buy some mid-table La Liga side or somesuch, rebranded them to sky blue City and then had some of their fans come on to complain - fans who actually had lived their entire lives supporting the team and living the culture, which as far as I can see is the major reason people have so little respect for Melbourne City and NYCFC fans - then would you all make the same comments, or would you actually respect their preference for their old colours?

Boo fucking hoo. If they have a gripe with the CFG fair enough, but if they come on here and start abusing posters "fuck off, you manc cunts" then don't be surprised if people bite back.
Personally I couldn't give a shit about Melbourne or New York. I support Manchester City, I've never had a second team and I don't intend to start now. No matter who owns them or what colour they play in. There's only one City as far as I'm concerned.

if they'd not come on here acting like spoilt brats, completely ungrateful and unappreciative, then they would get a fair welcome.

Instead they chose to hurl mud and abuse, and got decidedly short shrift, which, with them clearly having an Aussie sense of humour, ie. none, they went off in a huff about.

If you walk into your family's party and call your new brother-in-law a ****, then expect to get slapped down like the child you are behaving like.

Instead of embodying the spirit of their old name, and having some heart, warmth and niceties about them, they've decided to be soulless, heartless gimps, so no wonder they get short shrift. Bet they're all blokes who expect their wives to ditch their maiden names upon marriage as well.

For the rest of the Heart fans who may ever read this thread, this post is not a reflection upon anyone other than the couple of idiots who have spouted nonsense representing your club, so be pissed off with them, not us, we didn't choose to buy you, blame our owners if you are still miffed about that, why you would be though is beyond me, and will be forgotten when you're winning trophies.

By the same token, this is a Manchester City forum, and if someone comes onto another clubs forum insulting the club and supporters of the club they shouldnt be too surprised to get some back.

I'm a strong supporter of the CFG concept, and loved the game on Saturday morning. I've watched replays of the last 10 minutes twice since. But this is a Manchester City board, and just like the Melbourne and New York boards criticism of a club by a supporter of another club in the group isnt going nowhere to be well received.

Particularly when the majority of posters at the time were praising the derby performance and result.

They show us some respect and then they will get it back.

Both of the above in my opinion are correct. A couple of posts that are entirely intended to stir the pot achieved their goal. As far as I can see it the colour issue is still very sensitive but as time passes I hope things will settle down. There will be always an element who will never accept the change but you can never please everyone all of the time.

Looking forward to this weeks game, were playing top team Perth played 11 w 9 d1 L1 going to be really tough, but if the squad can play with same desire and commitment we are in with a shout. Problem is traditionally as soon as we get a few good results and start to give the fans hope we get let down with weak and insipid performances. I genuinely feel confident about the long term future of this whole CFG project it's just the short to medium term situation that breeds doubt. As long as the same mistakes don't get repeated then I'll be happy.

Going to be fun Boxing Day test then across the bridge to watch city (hopefully) beat glory.

Yeah what we should do instead, is only say things on this Unofficial Manchester City Forum that we're absolutely sure Soriano and Khaldoon will approve of.

We're thinking of instituting a rule that any Melbourne fans may only post if they end each post with the words "Thank you Daddy, can I have another?". Maybe that will show the dickheads who owns their two bit operation.

That was idiotic from the person who said f*** Man City. Red & White grew on us but with rebranding comes changes and one of those changes were the colours. Gradually sky blue and white is growing on people so it will get there. But i believe the vast majority are more concerned with success rather than colours. From the history of CFG, looks like success will come sooner rather than later.

Great idea. Will do.

Melbourne Heart were formed in 2008, so you cannot compare it with Newell's or Boca. You cannot go on that "I supported this team my entire life", when its only 6 years old, most Heart/City fans probably supported Melbourne Knights or South Melbourne (who have been around since the 50s), before Heart came along. Melbourne Victory only began in 2004. Also clubs change a bit in their early years, City began as St Marks, then Ardwick, then finally City, and previously wore a black strip with a Maltese cross, sky blue came later. United used to be Newton Heath, Everton played at Anfield before Liverpool, Woolwich Arsenal, etc, I could go on with examples, but you get the picture, so I have little time or sympathy with this 'stole a club' argument.
