Message from a Sunderland fan

Remember in the 90s playing Sunderland last game of the season when we sent them down (think it was 3-2 and an amazing game). Brilliant atmosphere, loads of Sunderland fans in the Kippax that day which i wasn't used to as a kid but not a hint of trouble. Remember how good the Sunderland fans interacted with the City fans that day in what could of easily got very nasty and always stuck with me.
I was there and was amazed how they took going down with us singing you'll be back, me and a few mates ended up on the piss with loads of sunderland fans round manchester after the game great set of fans

We got on the wrong tube to Wembley when we played Sunderland in the final, full of Sunderland fans.
We thought we'd get our heads stoved in but they were safe, good fans.
Was in the Kippax when we played Sunderland and they were relegated. The Kippax was absolutely awash with Sunderland fans and no trouble with any of them despite being relegated. They were also one of the few sides at Wembley (for the league cup) where a large group of fans stayed to watch the trophy presentation. Utmost respect for their fans.

To be honest I am finding it a bit strange. It feels like watching some sort of movie. Watching us move up in quality since we clambered out of the third division has been incredible. The gap from the Championship to the PL was huge, then we made a huge leap forward into the top six. It was so tough to get in the top four and then win something. Then struggled to get out of CL groups and this season we have won10 out of 11 CL games, a record for the competition.
But the biggest change of all has been under Pep's Total Football. I never thought I would ever see a City side (or any English one TBH) play at such a high technical level. It has become as the ironic song says: "Just like watching Brazil."
Wednesday night's performance was, for me at least, the best i've ever seen from a City side.
The second half had all the skills, dynamism, accuracy, movement and control that we've been treated to all season so it wasn't a big surprise to see the boys passing PSG to death.
What stood out for me happened iin the first half. We statrted off decently, albeit a bit to 'timid' for my liking and then PSG clicked. They began to batter us and i thought we were gonna crumble. When you see De Bruyne, Rodders and Bernardo chasing shadows for ten minutes it doesn't look to rosey.
But no, they didn't buckle or lose faith. They stepped up and it was every last one of them doing the hard, dirty stuff without the ball. We had captains all over the pitch getting stuck in, breaking PSG's rythmn and cajoling teammates. It kept us in the game.
We now know we not only have a team of fantastic footballers, we also have a team of real battlers, determined to win for the team and supporters.
Up the fucking Blues.

edit can a nice MOD move this to the post-match thread ta.

I was in the Kippax that day, they brought loads.

Remember our coach getting bricked before a game a rocker park. Hellen the bell was on our coach and give them a good telling off. We couldn't see the game due to the Fog. We were singing 1,2,3,4,5, nil to the man City as we couldn't see the pitch from behind the goal. We lost the game but happy memories.

Blue to my bones , but love Sunderland because of there fans. Brilliant at Maine Road when they where relegated and again at Wembley. Top reaction to City winning the league when they played Utd. Top people the Mackems, I hope they back in the prem again and FTM .

I'm sure we were the first team to play them at the stadium of light in 1997. Group of us went, had a good chat with a few fans in the boozer beforehand. Fuck me could have done with a translator though, couldn't understand a word!! :)
