To be honest I am finding it a bit strange. It feels like watching some sort of movie. Watching us move up in quality since we clambered out of the third division has been incredible. The gap from the Championship to the PL was huge, then we made a huge leap forward into the top six. It was so tough to get in the top four and then win something. Then struggled to get out of CL groups and this season we have won10 out of 11 CL games, a record for the competition.
But the biggest change of all has been under Pep's Total Football. I never thought I would ever see a City side (or any English one TBH) play at such a high technical level. It has become as the ironic song says: "Just like watching Brazil."
Wednesday night's performance was, for me at least, the best i've ever seen from a City side.
The second half had all the skills, dynamism, accuracy, movement and control that we've been treated to all season so it wasn't a big surprise to see the boys passing PSG to death.
What stood out for me happened iin the first half. We statrted off decently, albeit a bit to 'timid' for my liking and then PSG clicked. They began to batter us and i thought we were gonna crumble. When you see De Bruyne, Rodders and Bernardo chasing shadows for ten minutes it doesn't look to rosey.
But no, they didn't buckle or lose faith. They stepped up and it was every last one of them doing the hard, dirty stuff without the ball. We had captains all over the pitch getting stuck in, breaking PSG's rythmn and cajoling teammates. It kept us in the game.
We now know we not only have a team of fantastic footballers, we also have a team of real battlers, determined to win for the team and supporters.
Up the fucking Blues.
edit can a nice MOD move this to the post-match thread ta.
