Messi’s contract at Barca revealed

looking at the treament Foden recieved against Sheff Utd , he was kicked from pillar to post , and got very little protection , so i am not sure a 34 year old Messi will be playing a lot of games , La Liga referees are a different breed to our officials.

Messi gets the treatment Foden gets in every single match he plays for Barcelona, and 10x worse when he goes away to Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru etc in international matches.

If Messi joined us, do you think we'd struggle to replace Etihad as our shirt sponsor? We'd be looking to get £100m a year for that alone, which is £40m more than we get now. Wages paid from that alone.
Just repeating this for the two that are desperate to show they don’t understand football finances.

Short sales make up virtually nothing in terms of revenue for any club. The club gets a minute amount on profit over a certain amount of shirts sold. The clubs receive money for the short manufacturing deal (ie we already get out shirt money from Puma).

Anyone thinking that Messi pays for himself based on short sales is not even close to being correct.

But Messi does attract news sponsors and commercial deals which is what anyone that serious about this subject is suggesting.

The rest of your post is so poor as to not be worth my time replying to.
True. Probably squeeze an extra 10-20 mill when it comes to negotiating a new shirt deal at the most. Saying that I've no clue what Barca get now so just guessing.

So you don’t watch the Spanish league (and Barca games especially) at all then? Fair enough, but why pretend you do whilst proving you don’t?

Shirt sales! Do you understand how those contracts work? Clubs get a guaranteed amount based on the company's anticipated sales, say 100k shirts per annum. If they sell more, there's probably a 10-15% add-on. It's the companies that make the money on shirt sales, not the clubs, bar what they get upfront.

We are 18 months into a Puma contract , so that eliminates your opinion , and shirt sponsors deals are far more than the two years Messi will be playing in our shirt. So yes i do understand how contracts work , it appears you do not understand we are less than half way through our current contract.

Etihad is the sponsor.

Puma is the manufacturer.

He is talking about the sponsor, as he states, not the manufacturer which you’re talking about.

It appears you don’t understand much about anything.

Please stop whilst you’re behind as this is fucking painful to watch. It’s car crash stuff.

Such a shame, he's a one of a kind talent, one of a generation, to see is Barcelona career end like this. No matter what the circumstances, for it to end like this risks tarnishing everything.

I can only see that this is coming from within the club, and that speaks to the panic and turmoil there currently. On top of that you have Tebas acting in their behalf because 'they have no president' right now and he just feels he has to protect them.

I can see this escalating now even more. If it doesn't then he risks them damaging his reputation further. Messi loves Barca but they've really took a dump on him from a great height here. It must be affecting him and I can see a response from his side, whereas before his love and respect for the club has almost always stopped him.

What form that takes I don't know, moving during a pandemic isn't attractive, but clear that he'll be painted as the cause of their lack of success this season too. I don't think you can loan a player like that, so we could be in for a few months of back and forth or even Messi refusing to play.

Also clarifies why De Jong went there rather than link up with Pep, and highlights that city are not in fact throwing money at every situation or buying any title. Whilst undoubtedly Barca have incredible cash generation potential worldwide, pinging £300k at a young kid from Ajax or a young French winger after one standout season is always a risk.

Barcelona as a football club will not be allowed to fail, they are far too important as a brand, but they need a rebuild now from board to dressing room and that is going to be painful. Must like their stadium the Nou Camp, they have become iconic but a dump.

Eric Garcia may think rejoining his childhood club overrules all, but he should be asking serious questions about the who and how of their future. The pandemic will hit them hard, I don't see De Boer as any kind of solution and I think neither does any of the presidential candidates, so what is going to change? No Messi, new Barca, success doesn't happen overnight. And like all the history clubs (most famously see united and slurgie), the plan of action is still unclear and smeared by infighting and poison.
They really are the Spanish Rags aren't they, its a joy to watch from afar.
I would love to see a similar thing pan out in Bavaria too with the german rags.

Just got a newsflash that El Mundo are being sued by both Messi and Barca for revealing contract details.
What size?

Que ? i watched plenty of la liga when i used to spend six months a year at my apartment in Marbella (COVID is a bastard :) , i did watch Malaga regularly with loads of other UK/Malaga fans , until they financially imploded , but i am sure you are trying to make some ridiculous and invalid point , carry on.

Good luck with that. They’ll not pay a penny if it’s correct. They’ll cite public interest.

Apparently only 5 people other than Messi had access to the contract and only 4 copies exist, so Messi is going after those 5 people.

So one would expect you’d understand that Messi gets kicked from pillar to fucking post then wouldn’t you.

Invalid point/ridiculous point my arse, you’re fucking clueless.

So you don't think the Puma contract (and every other contract negotiated) will include a Messi clause payable during his time with us should he sign?

To be honest, I dont know much about the finances of signing Messi, but why are barca in such a mess with him on their books?

Anyway, I believe that the average age of our front four v sheff utd was less than 23 years old. This is what I had assumed that we were about now, nurturing our own and signing young talent to take the club forward needing only minor "tweaking" to a squad that is both successful and sustainable. Ensuring a bright future and a club model to make the haters squirm with envy.

Messi has been the goat imo, but I cant help but have reservations regarding his signing for us. Yes he would probably be more at home here than current barca with Pep and our squad to play alongside, and could see some great football involved, and it would boil some piss too.

On the other hand, its a bit like buying someone on the strenght of their past rather than the strenght of their future, I would rather we had bust the bank for him 5-8 years ago when in his prime.

At the end of the day there are cases to be made for both scenarios and I do trust our clubs owners/staff to make the right decision as they are more "privvy" to the relevant info in this matter.

If we do sign him though, I fear we had better brace ourselves for the biggest "hate onslaught" in the history of football.
