Messi’s contract at Barca revealed

Signing him on those similar figures will for sure cause unrest amongst other players. If messi leaves what options are there for him? Psg and City. Reckon psg will throw their wallet at him.

I'd like to think the club would have considered the possibility that a move such as this may unsettle the City players. They've probably realised that it wouldn't, hence why the pursuit is still there.

City aren't as naive as some on here may like to think.

PSG in the French league would not be able monetise Messi as much as us in the Premier League, so that leaves creating a winning team. Neither us or the French champions will want to reconfigure their lineups to revolve around the then 35 year old Argentinian. If PSG throw their wallet at him then fair enough he goes there but I think both parties would regret it.

Etihad is the sponsor.

Puma is the manufacturer.

He is talking about the sponsor, as he states, not the manufacturer which you’re talking about.

It appears you don’t understand much about anything.

Please stop whilst you’re behind as this is fucking painful to watch. It’s car crash stuff.

So you don't think the Puma contract (and every other contract negotiated) will include a Messi clause payable during his time with us should he sign?

No , i dont think when we agreed the Puma contract Messi was a possible deal , no doubt a renegotiation would be on the cards , but at nowhere near Barca levels

Your splitting hairs , what i do understand is every sponsor and manufacturer that is asocciated with the club will be up for re-negotiation , because the club will have to claw back as much money as possible and having Messi in our squad will no doubt increase revenue but at nowhere near Barca's global level , now jog along

Nike were prepared to double their contract in 2013, which was also part-way through.

No doubt any contract with the club be it sponsors , manufactuers will be re-negotiated , but we will not see Barca levels of investment , they are global football club with a hundred times the support we have , if you beleive the media Messi's salary net is approx £215m per year with wages , bonuses , loyalty ,etc etc if the club can re-negotiate that amount of money in the current economic climate then i would take my hat off to them.

I absolutely guarantee you if we sign Messi we will start to renew our current sponsorships(Puma included) as all of them would love to have Messi promoting their brands. Also new sponsors would be falling over themselves to do a deal with us such is his commercial power
Your 100% right , but Messi's yearly salary with all the extras is £215m per year , if the club think they can re-negotitate that amount of money in the current economic climate then i would be very surprised, none of us know the economics of the club or any Messi deal as a fan i would love Messi at the club just to see the piss boiling of our rivals , but not at the expense of crippling the club financially for any future transfers
What is certain it will be open season for the media if we give Messi a billion pound four year contract whilst the vast majority of football clubs in this country are struggling to stay in busiiness.

Was Dave Hatch one of them

Don know him by name , there were about fourty of us regualarly going to home games our coach used to leave Inchy's bar and when that closed the Black Bull on Avenida Gamonal in Arroyo De Miel that also closed and we made our own way and got tickets from Scoffers in Fuengirola , not been for over 12 months due to the lockdowns etc.

So one would expect you’d understand that Messi gets kicked from pillar to fucking post then wouldn’t you.

Invalid point/ridiculous point my arse, you’re fucking clueless.

You havent made any point , you never do , you just throw the insults from the safety of the internet , ive watched La Liga in the flesh and the reaction of the crowd at the slightest touch is totally different to our game, officials in Spain dont let anything go , the Premier league refs are not as protective , so why dont you wind your neck in.

Can I just confirm, is that headline saying he is on just over half a billion Euros per year? Surely that can’t be right as it would mean that he is the one sole player who brings in anything to Barca.

At an estimated £350 grand a week, our highest earners are just short of £20 mil a year, which just seems way off what is being spoken about there.

He's probably one of the best if not the best football player there as ever been but at close to half a billion pounds a year at 33 years old best will in the world I can't see us tumbling unless he's willing to except a drastic reduction in wages.

Think it was he last 4 year contract in a whole which is still a huge 135m plus a year lol

The article said €555m over 4 years which included variables as I read it. So that's the equivalent of €140m or £125m a year, all in. Still a lot of money but quite a bit less than you're suggesting. Other figures suggest he's getting around €500k a week in actual wages, which is around £20m a year net so say £50m gross. A new shirt deal and uplift to the Puma contract would cover that.

But why don't we leave it to Khaldoon, Soriano and the finance suits to sort out if we can do it?

No one knows how much a deal with us or PSG would cost. He’s older now so I’d be surprised if his salary would be the same. He must be worth a bloody fortune by now anyway. Maybe he just wants to play under Pep again and hook up with his mate Sergio and escape all the politics of Barcelona. I’m sure a package could be agreed that both sides would be happy with.

If a Messi deal pays for itself and doesnt affect any future transfer deals , it would be brilliant to see Messi at the Etihad , i doubt very much in the current economic climate it is feasible , my guess Messi stays where he is or PSG where Ligue 1 is a far less enduring prospect for a 33/34 year old.

I've made no secret of the fact that I don't want him here. Haven't done since the first time he flirted with us and then surprise surprise signed another new contract.

I'm not too worried about the financial side of any possible deal though. We are owned, run, and managed by, some of the very smartest football and business brains in the world.

If we sign him we can all rest assured that the club will have found a way to make it pay.

I Still don't want him though...
