That's ridiculous. Utterly. Silva has been fantastic for a good few years now. It is for Ozil to demonstrate he can operate in Silva's league, not the other way around! The world's biggest teams have coveted Silva for at least a couple of years and I can't believe we have people on here turning their noses up at him. Mindboggling.

The Ozil obsession on here is equally ridiculous to be frank. Looks like he's going to be a great player, but he's not there yet.

And although it is not a popular thing to say on here, Robinho is better than both of them. We should be doing everything in our power to convince him City is where he needs to be.

Isn't this the site where everyone is banging on about how we should be buying players to make our 'own', not players who are already world class but those that have potential and become world class at the club...............................

Ozil is a better player than Silva - why? Because he's got everything in his locker that Silva has, but is physically stronger. He's been in better form over the last two seasons than Silva has (check the stats). And he's currently delivering on the biggest stage in the world..

That's not me turning my nose up at Silva at all - I think he'd be a fantastic signing, absolutely top class - but there's no point in kidding yourself that Silva's a better player just because he's been around a bit longer...

....oh, and Robinho's better than both of them? do me a favour...

Not sure what stats you are on about to be honest, but Ozil is playing in the Bundesliga while Silva plays (and consistently impresses) in a much better league.

Splitting hairs a little anyway - we should be extremely excited to get either. I have a marginal preference for Silva all things considered, but were we to sign Ozil (which we won't) I would be almost as delighted.

And Robinho is comfortably better than both of them. He's definitely 'currently delivering on the biggest stage in the world' - much more so than Ozil or Silva.

Ozil gets a huge amount of assists and his stats do look a little better but its a bit unfair to compare stats (Goals, assists i'm assuming you mean?) over 2 seasons when you consider Silva was injured for a good chunk of Valencias season in 08/09 and didn't even play 20 leauge games yet still managed 4 goals and 7 assists in that time. IMO the Spanish leauge is of a higher standard than the German leauge aswell. I think they are both fantastic footballers and would be delighted to get either one of them
 
Forgive me, I haven't read through this thread. Can someone tell me if we're actually pursuing Ozil or is this just about how good he is?
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again. We shouldn't be judging people on their World cup performances. Just look at how many top class players have flopped in the world cup. Rooney for one, we didn't see much of Ronaldo (perhaps not a flop), Torres is pretty silent. I don't doubt Ozil is good. However, Silva plays in one of the strongest leagues going and has impressed everyone! I think we got a great asset to our club. Ozil may well become just as good if not better, but for the time being we've done what's right for the club. I'd want to see more of Ozil before we signed him
