Ozil or Oezil as BBC like it - Attacking centre midfielder who can play wide left or right.

Sorry, we have one, no other please, causes unrest. I'd take Podolski for LW and shift Bellers on though.

I'd be slightly concerned that if Silva got a bad injury we would once again be left with few creative options through the middle. I reckon two for every position is ok and we'll have loads of games this season so no reason why both couldn't be kept reasonably happy. That said, I don't think for one minute we'll get Ozil, more is the pity.

I wasn't too impressed with Ozil's defensive play last night but in contrast, Silva came on and worked like a horse :)

for a whole 2 minutes :P

Sure it was a short time, but he could have just sat up front waiting for the ball - I guess it was his general willingness to close the opposition down and try and make things happen!

If he plays like that all the time, i'll look forward to seeing him and tevez in the same team!

*Expert after watching 120 seconds of a player*

No, but you could see the difference in the work ethic of the two players thats all. Ozil had a poor game to be fair, when he lost the ball he would just give up or jog back to help out and I worry he would go missing in certain games whereas Silva's willingness to work hard has been documented before and certainly proved it in those 120 seconds...

Which one were you more impressed with on the night? Ozil has had a brilliant world cup, I admit that, but Germany have previously creamed most of their opposition and we haven't had a decent chance to see his all round game til last night...

Not sure if posted already but Daily Express are saying the rags may be after him... I sure as hell hope not...

SIR Alex Ferguson is ready to make a £25million swoop for Germany’s Mesut Ozil after Wesley Sneijder announced he wants to stay with Inter Milan.

Manchester United boss Ferguson is looking for a playmaker to replace veteran Paul Scholes, who has suggested next season could be his last.

Ozil fits the bill with his superb skill, passing ability and shooting power. Ferguson was tracking Ozil, 21, before his World Cup exploits for Germany shot him to prominence.

Werder Bremen are resigned to losing Ozil, who has a year left on his contract, with the player tempted by a move to the Premier League.

“I want to win trophies and there are two clubs in England, United and Chelsea, who win trophies,” he said.

The £25m-rated Sneijder rejected the money-spinning interest of United to pledge his future to Inter.

Joint top scorer in South Africa with five goals, Sneijder will open new contract talks with Inter president Massimo Moratti, after bidding for an unprecedented haul against Spain in the World Cup final.

Having won the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia at Inter under Jose Mourinho, who has since moved to Real Madrid and been replaced by Rafa Benitez, Sneijder wants to extend his deal to 2015. He said: “I will stay. I will play next season with Inter. My heart is in Milan.”

Ferguson has revealed Owen Hargreaves will miss the start of the season after suffering an injury setback.

It was hoped he could join United on tour - they leave for a training camp in Chicago on Monday - but Ferguson said: “Owen is in America seeing a specialist. He will not be ready for the start of the season. I do not know when he will be back.”

As to the whole Silva thing I'd say that having two attacking midfielders who are both comfortable on the wings is a good thing, especially when Ireland and SWP's futures are far from certain. I see no reason why Adam Johnson, Silva and Ozil could not play in a 4 or 5 man midfield with NDJ/Yaya (or both).

Another phantom bid to calm the fooled Rag masses.

with Ozil only having a year left on his contract i can see baconface going for him, hoepfully we will bid and push the price up even if we don't want him.

He does look quality Ozil but could you handle those googley eyes...

I was worried he was gonna drop his peepers on the floor they stick out so much.

If United go for him we have to Outbid them!

I have a horrible feeling that Taggart is gonna snap him up for about £18 million due to his contract expiring and well pay about £28 million for Milner. I hope Im wrong that would really make me cry!
