"Metrolink puts tram service on for football and music fans"

Check the Bee Network journey planner.

For the Burnley match tram from Navigation Road change at Cornbrook for tram to Etihad.

After the game tram from the Etihad direct to Altrincham.

Huddersfield game direct tram from Altrincham to the Etihad, and vice versa.

No bloody consistency. A second rate transport system.

I know a guy who works in data for the transport sector. His explanation for the failings in Metrolink is that it’s largely down to when it was built in the early 90s as a much smaller network, every tram has to go through Cornbrook. This wasn’t a problem at the time but it means the system isn’t scalable so now it’s a massive bottleneck and causes issues all over the network. It’s a fundamental flaw in Metrolink.

Not sure how true this is but it makes sense to me and the guy who told me this does a lot of contract work for the council and TFGM in data analytics.
Absolutely, Cornbrook is the weakest link and if any major issue arose at that stop would bring havoc to the system. It's just a 2 platform station that every tram to the South of the Network goes through

Apparently points failure where the train tracks meet the tram tracks at Navigation Road, so no trams thought to Alty.

Temp dropped to all of -2 last night. Wait til 1 inch of snow falls and the UK grinds to a halt
@Northerndave please can you tell me next Saturdays lottery numbers. I ask because ...... this morning the snow is falling, are you a Wizard ? :-)

TBF, no matter where you go in the world, which city, or which metro system, underground or overground you use, football fans are always pressed in like sardines. It was like that before and after the CL final in Istanbul, as an example.
Not on the trams we used. Breezed into the stop near the stadium and flew back direct to the centre afterwards.

No mention of an improved timetable from the Etihad to Ashton.Unless it's pouring down I now walk there and back because the service is second rate and due to the shortage of trams to and from Ashton the trams are overcrowded and is an accident waiting to happen
