Metrolink to / from Etihad

I expect you are right, but surely Metrolink should rethink their match day scheduling?
Why ? The Etihad - Alty tram was the most popular. This meant they let hundreds through who refused to get on another tram because the Alty tram was next. The same solution for the fuckwits was to remove the Alty tram.

Have Metrolink got a new director of operations?

Yesterday we had trams direct to the Etihad from Altrincham and miracle of miracles a tram back to Altrincham from the Etihad after the match.

Both double units so for the first time ever it was a pleasurable journey in both directions.

Yes I was shocked on Saturday to get to Altrincham and see Etihad stadium on the information board. What a difference it made! I could get onto the tram, get a seat and relax. No fretting about getting off at Cornbrook and waiting ages on a crowded platform for a packed tram to turn up. The difference this extra direct service made was visible all along the line. No massive crowds at any other stop, even Piccadilly gardens and station. This is what the service should be every game. Any service that runs into Piccadilly station should do the extra few stops to the ground on match days. I pray this is going to be a regular occurrence now but I fear it won't.

We caught the absolutely packed tram from Piccadilly at around 2.40 on Saturday, and I have to say that some of the Blues on there were utter fucking cretins. A lad around 10 years old got on with his mum, and was wearing a United shirt, because of this, 5 blokes decided he was fair game to be screamed at from 2 feet away, You're fucking shit, etc etc, while their moronic friend punched the walls of the tram as hard as he possibly could above this lads head. He looked utterly terrified (as did his mum) and they left at the next stop. A pathetic show from the Neanderthal section of our support.

That is disgraceful. That poor kid and his mum.

Bloody hell 2:40 is cutting it a bit fine. Unfortunately that's certain football fans for you. While anybody of course should be able wear what they like, having a United shirt on on a tram full of City fans going to the stadium isn't the smartest decision of the day. Oh before the outraged jump on my case I'm not condoning the behaviour and I would have had to jump in if I was on that tram and tell them to leave it out.

We were there from 2.20, so yes, the 2.40 was definitely cutting it fine (we missed 2 minutes of the game), but it wasn't the plan. As for the United lad, a few gentle comments about his tragic team would have been fine, but these were the actions of total cunts.

You’re right mate, utter cunts (the bullies I mean, not the little kid and his mum). Disappointed if nobody picked them up for their shitcuntness

Mob mentality and pissed up. To them it would just be having a laugh not realising it wouldn't have been pleasant for the lad and his mother. A good lesson for the kid though, don't wear a United shirt on a City matchday and get on a tram going to the ground.

Metrolink finally using common sense and easing overcrowding on trams.... :0

The Altrincham line is one of the busiest anyway so it makes sense on matchdays to run to and from the stadium. They go into Piccadilly anyway and we saw on Saturday how it eases congestion.
