Metrolink to / from Etihad

Eh ? I stared quite clearly that by the time the Alty tram gets to St Peters Sq it is rammed and people can't get on. It is an utter joke. The Met was allowed to expand without showing how it could cope with the extra lines. They are still looking to open more routes, it is a political farce.
Can only write from personal experience.
Find it perfectly manageable for my needs - sorry it clearly doesn't suit yours.

Metrolink

Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases amongst Metrolink staff, and to ensure we are able to operate services as scheduled, we will be amending the Metrolink timetable and frequency for Boxing Day.

For Sunday 26 December only, the following services will operate:

  • Metrolink will be operate a 20-minute service on all lines during the day, with additional double units in operation on the majority of lines to provide extra capacity.
  • For the Manchester City v Leicester City match at the Etihad Stadium (3pm kick-off) additional services will operate to provide extra capacity for match goers.
Between 1pm and 7pm, frequent trams will operate between the city centre and Etihad Campus and between Ashton-under-Lyne and Etihad Campus.
There will also be a slight adjustment to the first and last times for Metrolink. In the majority of cases these changes are by less than five minutes, but it's important that you check the timings before setting off

Good information that Gray.
And Metrolink do appear to be making a bit of an effort to accommodate City fans needs, with frequent trams before and after KO at 3pm.

They certainly do, but forgive me for withholding judgement until I am safely back from the match.

Metrolink putting in the excuses already?

At least they’re listening and trying. What they try might go horribly wrong on Boxing Day but the fact they’re trying is the important thing, as you’d imagine they’d eventually get it right.

The worst thing is when someone isn’t listening and isn’t trying.

Agree the shuttle from Etihad to Picc Station as after the last game seems to me a move forward to shift the crowd from the Etihad tram stop , hope it becomes a perminate service.

Wow have Metrolink finally cracked it? Additional services with extra capacity...surely not?

To be fair the Etihad stop did only open a decade ago, they’ll sort it out eventually.

Thanks for the info. This looks like it is going to be a nightmare to get back to Altrincham again as seems there will be plenty of trams to take people the mile or so from the city centre to the stadium and back but once back at Piccadilly after the game it will be 20 min services to get to Alty which if you can’t get on the first tram or two due to volume of people trying to get on could be a very long wait for the next Covid Express to Altrincham
