Metrolink to the stadium

Just reading through this thread but still a bit puzzled.
Are there any plans to run through from Altrincham line via town to the ground ?
Like you can board at Stretford and go alway the way to Bury or Chorlton trams run to Oldham Mumps ?

Cheers

It's my guess that you'll have to get off the metrolink from Atrincham/Stretford in Manchester city centre .. and then get another tram from Piccadilly Gardens that serves the new East Manchester line (Droylsden bound) to the Etihad 'halt'.

I could be wrong though ....

A cheap day return from Ashton train station to Etihad tram stop is going to be £5.00.
Cobblers. That would be dearer than the most expensive Metrolink offpeak return (Altrincham to Shaw or Bury). £2.60 return Droylsden to Etihad, £2.90 town to Etihad.

Must admit ive been told anything from £3 to £5 from ashton to the etihad return
I just wondered could it be higher than a fiver from ashton to town return
If so that would seem a bit daft as the train is only £3 return and takes 12 mins.

I misread your first post mate. The £5 return is what it will cost from Monday, for a ticket that combines the train from Ashton to town and then the tram from town to the ground.

To much fucking about that mate
Would have to get train to victoria then get to piccadilly then back to the ground
Be much better when i can just get the tram straight there next winter

I live in Oldham and work in Rochdale (lucky me!!!!!). All the traffic problems are/have been awful and for what? There was already rail lines that could have been used but no they decided to run the thing off the rails onto Middleton Rd and Union St in Oldham.

I do use it sometimes into Manchester but the disruption outweighs any gains. Moan moan moan.

I'm sure you'll suss out what's best for you but from what I understand, you'd be able to jump off the train at Victoria and then straight on the tram from Victoria to the ground.

I find the trams are good for frequency and getting home late but take forever. I can get the train from town to Eccles in 7 minutes. Tram takes 35/40 minutes.

On a side note,I live on a canal boat and I was thinking of running canal trips up to the stadium for all the new tourist fans we have, think it would be a winner!

Never mind the "new tourists" serve a decent pint at realistic prices and you will fill the bar sorry the boat every home game

The normal scheduled service on the line will be Bury<-->Droylsden approx. every 12 mins via Vict. and Picc. stations. On matchdays there will also be a shuttle service between Piccadilly station and the Etihad before and after the game. If you're coming in on the Alty, Chorlton or Eccles lines, it's probably best to change at Picc Gardens or Market St and pick up the Droylsden tram there.

Anyone know the cost of Whitefield to the Etihad and back on the Metrolink?

Your not that is exactly right, from Alty Stretford line you have to change atPiccadilly Gardens then walk down to Piccadilly Station as the Stadium tram is on the Bury to Droylsden line which goes into Piccadilly Station only !!!
Confused ?
It will be confusing but in afew weeks second nature
