Metrolink to the stadium

How many people can a tram carry ? What is the expected amount of people usage after the match? Every six minutes? I just hope they've taken delivery of more units!

A single tram can hold 200

Is that per carriage as there are usually two carriages together at a time, sometimes four at peak times

I've just been on metrolink's website 'journey planner'. I tried to plan a journey from Parrs Wood to Etihad Stadium. It said this journey is not available. I realise they are not on the same line but I thought you would be able to hop off/hop on like the the London Underground. Is this not the case ?

You will able to plan it from next week. I tried planning Crumpsall to Oldham a couple of days before the Oldham extension opened and, like you, I couldn't get it. But on the day it opened, I did. Can't blame the system. Some mug would only pay up for a journey that doesn't exist yet!

I live around the corner from the Parrs Wood area , and the way I understand it is that you would be able to get the tram to town from the new East Didsbury stop/halt to Manchester city centre , but it looks like the route passes through Chorlton , Cornbrook etc , so it could possibly take a bit of time.

Once in the city centre you could almost certainly 'switch' to the Droylsden bound (East Manchester line) tram that would stop at the Etihad .... this line will , in time , be extended to cover Ashton.

(Probably quicker just to get a normal train into Manchester from East Didsbury , and work your way to the ground from there !)

Just reading through this thread but still a bit puzzled.
Are there any plans to run through from Altrincham line via town to the ground ?
Like you can board at Stretford and go alway the way to Bury or Chorlton trams run to Oldham Mumps ?

Cheers

What's wrong with all you lazy sods? Why pay when you can use old longshanks pony? I get the train from Tod to Victoria, walk up Shudehill and then the back streets to the Ashton Canal, walk up the canal, stop for a swift pint of the worlds worst ale at The Mitchell Arms and then saunter up to the ground. I love it,it's part of my "Matchday experience",not much fun in the rain mind!

On a side note,I live on a canal boat and I was thinking of running canal trips up to the stadium for all the new tourist fans we have, think it would be a winner!

Yeah , it's probably quicker (and less expensive) to just get the normal train into Manchester from East Didsbury station , and just work your way to the ground from there !
