Micah Richards (2014/15)

Terrible comments in this topic. Hard to believe that many are from City fans

We have got to have a reliable right back to push Zaba or the very least rotate or cover for him. As much as he is one of the most successful of our Academy graduates he has only made a total of 11 appearances in two seasons and has not got long left on his current deal.

This is like Michael Johnson all over again. Terrific players with potential to hit their best peaks but the injuries just began to pile up.

Harsh reality to face.
Not really
Johnson's problems were off the pitch and in his head as much as on it.

Re: Micah Richards

Hope he can get fit and stay fit. However, his injury record is bordering on appalling. Depending on how he does for the rest of the season, we might be looking for a new RB in the summer or maybe sooner.

Since when was Micah a pisshead?

I was under the impression that that was because of his unlucky series of injuries? He got back to almost match fit one time, but his injuries recurred and it took a year off him and during this was when he developed that problem iirc. If it was the other way around then yeah I'd put my hands up, but as far as I could remember the injuries spanning a few years came first.

It has been a feature of city since 70's that we have always (until takeover) need to overplay our quality young lads - often leading them to be knacked by their mid 20's.

Re: Micah Richards

Didn't help that he had to sprint after Ribery several minutes after pulling up with the original hamstring injury. If Zab had been warming up from the start it strikes me they must have known he was at risk and should have made the switch earlier. If not Milner should have been back covering for him. What with all that going one, Lescott being played yet again on his wrong side and two off-side goals it's no wonder we had a calamitous start! I really felt for the lad as he was subbed, he was very upset.

Re: Micah Richards

I think Micah can call it a day this season. Trying to push against his injury might aggravate it more. I hope he eventually comes back to full fitness and takes the season as a time to improve rather than to impress.

In the meantime we might need to bring a fallback RB, one that is good for the future. If Micah comes back hitting the ground running then he's entitled to a chance.

Ive been talking about him going to NYCFC, if he were to reach his peak there, we can recall him back. he still has some years ahead of him and hasnt reached his peak form in my opinion.

Re: Micah Richards

It's a hamstring injury. What do you mean that's it for the season

Unbelievable

Anyone heard of Vincent Kompany, or Robin Van Persie? Top players who had long periods blighted by injury

Call it a day to the season .....to impress. If you read the last sentence of that paragraph. I also mentioned I was hopeful for him to come back to full fitness into the season, to improve.

Reason being, his contract ends this season. Just want him to be the footballer that he is to improve and not to impress to get a new contract. If he comes back in the season after January, he's entitled to a chance.

Re: Micah Richards

As much as i hate to say it Micah is not good enough for us anymore, his defensive positioning is shocking, i never feel comfortable when he is playing. He looks powerful going forward but usually ends up down a blind alley or falling over. He has never been the best defender but has always had heart and gave 100%, however this is not enough anymore if we are serious about being the best.
