Micah Richards - new leaf?

I thought he coped well last night in what could have been a difficult night for him. He seems to be maturing a bit and slowly getting his positional sense right, long may it continue, I still think he is more suited as a centre half.

Hope he plays weekend, I think he's deserved it.

Christ, I read the first page of this thread and was astonished. I thought that the Richards' Haters (I was going to say critics, but I'm not talking about critics who make a reasoned judgement on performance, I'm talking about those whose criticism is always tinged with vitriol towards him and desperate not to give him any praise - and there has been lots of them on here) had gone away.

However, it was somehow reassuring that they made their presence felt more as the thread went on.

As already mentioned, all of our starting back 4 plus DM's last night were here last year and resembled the Keystone Cops at times.
Good coaching and strategy has improved them all considerably and (possibly except Kolo) further improvement can be expected.
Kolarov and Boateng have had a stop-start season so far and again next season should see them improve a lot. Slightly disappointed just now, though.
Silva's fabulous form without a long period of adjustment has given us artificially high expectations from new signings.
We can realistically hope for great things next season and anything we win this season will be substantially to the credit of Bob and the team.
We have done fantastically well in hiring them.

The thing with young players who make a big name at such a young age is they can start to believe their hype much like Micah did.

Mancini has pulled the reigns on him, brought him back to earth and is building him up to the player he can be!

Much like he's doing with Adam Johnson. Adam needs to be careful and listen to the elders of the game or he will throw away a massive opportunity!

Forget Richards. He's shockingly overweight and did little to convince me last night he's got any form about him. The keeper and post defended us last night NOT Micah Richards. He's too busy trying to attack and leave his positon exposed on numerous occasions.

I quite like Micah but feel he is not a natural footballer who struggles to do things at pace without thinking. You can see he is being well schooled by Mancini but I doubt he will ever be good or consistent enough to be top class.
A typical example last night was when he was faced with Van Persie. Everyone and his grannie knows that he is totally left footed so what does Micah do - shows him to his left foot instead of showing him inside onto his weaker right foot.
Still I hope he proves me wrong but like I say I have my doubts.

The one thing about Richards last night was the run he had in the 2nd half.

Clichy kept catching him, and Richards kept slowing down just to barge him away. It was quality. Really made me laugh. He's looking much better this season.
