Micah Richards Return..

Funny how a spell out of the team makes you a better player.
Exactly what I was thinking. Zab's done just as well in the final third of the pitch as Richards. He gets himself into some incredible positions, but he shares another common trait with Micah - there's rarely any final product. That's simply because neither are quite good enough to fulfill the particular role that Mancini wants out of them. Not their fault, just the way it is; there aren't many players around who would be up to the task.

I'm equally comfortable with Zab or Micah, as overall they both give us the same thing, so I wouldn't go pinning any major hopes of improvement on Richards' return. The problem comes when neither Clichy or Kolarov are available on the left, as we become even more painfully predictable.

I agree. It's never been tried though and I don't think Mancini ever will. I would love to see how good Micah would be from an attacking point of view if he didn't have the defensive responsibilities of a full back - it could also result in less injuries.

I'm not sure Mancini really rates Micah.

Anyone know when Maicon is back? It seems to have gone very quiet on that front. He was looking very good just before he got injured.

It's been proved many many times over the years the team with the best fullbacks wins the Premier League. We've had bad luck with Richards, Maicon, Kolarov and Clichy, we need them all fit to keep our best players playing week in week out. Zabaleta is a decent fullback as back up, he can be a liability with his tendency to commit fouls and jump in, he's a warrior no doubt, a top class fullback not for me.

I think Micah lacks a little bit of concentration at times but more than makes up for it with his power and pace surging forward. In this sense it might be good to start Micah on games where the offense is going to matter a far lot more than defense, games where we need to rely on our fullbacks for that extra attacking impetus. For example, we could really use him in the Norwich game, shame he won't be available until Feb-March at the earliest.

At the moment with the problems we are having breaking sides down, I think we are missing Maicon and kolorov as both offer more danger going forward than the two better defenders zab and clichy.

As much as I love Zabaleta and think he's an absolute workhorse and opitimises our team spirit - the power that Richards gives down the right-hand side could add another dimension to the our play that I personally feel Zaba doesn't give us fully at the moment.

I'd be right in saying most of us blues all love Zabaleta but in terms of an attacking threat down the wings I'd have to say the introduction of Micah would really give us some extra fire-power and another outlet down the flanks which I feel is currently lacking!

Does anybody know when Micah will be back and fully fit?

I take it this is a wum.Sooner have Zaba any day,due to his continued brilliance.IMO Micah will be lucky to get a sniff in.
This. About the only positive thing this season is how good zaba has been
The only positive?

I agree to an extent - I couldn't admire Zabaleta as a City player anymore than I do, he opitimises our team spirit BUT from AN ATTACKING perspective which we currently are majorly lacking as we all know, I feel Richards could potentially give us that attacking dynamic we seem to be lacking down the flanks
sense at last.............zab is without doubt a hero, but as an attacking threat..it has to be Richards....

Iam looking forward to the return of Richards looking forward to seeing him been are right back again.

Was thinking the same myself.

No mention in Platts conference.

Richards I doubt we will see before Mid Feb. ( don't you just love RM's maximum 30 days spiel a while ago )

Maicon offers us something no other player we have on our books can provide and that's a good cross with pace running towards goal.

Silva and Richards and Clichy for that matter balloon them are generally are very ineffective.

Imagine how many Dzeko would get his head to with a Hinchcliffe or better still a Baines of a Bale in our side.

For me Bale would complete the picture for us.

We must break heaven and earth to get him before Barca or Real do when we will never get him should that occur after that.
