Micah Richards the pundit

I don’t think it’s a case of defending us per se it’s about fairness, use of facts and not having a preconceived agenda - that’s what I want to see.
I don’t want to see yet another fan boy.
Regrettably, from what I’ve seen and heard, he just comes across as a bit thick.

I don’t think he is thick but get the impression he has not styled himself as a person to really get involved in the meatier debates on football.

Probably like a lot of us he just wants to discuss the sport, and stays clear of the financial side, FFP, complexities of ownership/sponsorship etc.

His punditry is a bit like a type of friend we all have. Avoid the heavier more sobering side of life and seem a lot more happier for it.

If I was a pundit I'd obviously start off pro City, defending us against the constant wave of shite. Then I'd come on here as Anon and start to see how people were still calling me a **** anyway because I said something based on facts to keep my job that they disagreed with. Then I imagine after getting a huge pay rise being on wages that would set me up comfortably coming out of a meeting with my bosses who'd said you need to tone the bias down a bit, need to appear more on the fence - here's a basic script of what we need you to say - in order for us to continue to pay you then I'd probably choose that over being some pro City hero that was then out of a job and who's voice wasn't heard after that point anyway.

The more pressing issue that everybody is forgetting is he's an official "Man City Ambassador"

So he should technically abide by the 'party whip' right? But the club themselves don't really care about enforcing a 'party whip'.

If the club were as frustrated as some of the posters here, Khaldoon would give him a call.

Micah is a blue, that should be enough.

No he isnt , he just happened to play here , he is self confessed arses fan , now not in the past . He never sticks up for us , repeatedly agreed peps handling of phil was wrong and that he should go out on loan just one example , he is a twat
Following is an excerpt from his autobiography which confirms this:

Most agents have at least one high-profile client, someone who is a top man at their club, and they often use them to act as a kind of advert for their services. Jerome Anderson knew I was an Arsenal fan as a kid, so as he was trying to convince me to join him he got Ian Wright to give me a call. Wrighty didn’t try and sell me anything.

The only time he mentions being a club ambassador is for banter about Scott Carson owing him money as he thinks Scott's performance for England vs Croatia cost him a few England caps in not qualifying for the Euro 2008 tournament which would've triggered a clause in his contract to increase his wages.

think he's a good balance with Lineker and Shearer, has his annoying moments like when he laughs hysterically over something he's said, that aside he brings a bit of entertainment and light heartedness at times.

Being pro-City doesn't sell. Newspapers want dirt on us, not positivity. We're not a club that's interesting to the majority of people out there unless it's negative. Micah works with Linekar a World Cup golden boot winner, Shearer the PL's top scorer, GNIAC who has won the lot at club level, Spitty who won the CL, Henry who won absolutely everything at club and internationally. He had a great couple of years, won a few things domestically, played for England a few times but has nothing more and no tactical knowledge. So he plays ball in being likeable and saying things that don't get him flak - and being pro-City to the extreme will get him flak. He's not a City fan and as an ambassador we'd obviously want to see him sat in a City shirt singing Blue Moon but that's not going to happen. Sacking him off as an ambassador will probably lead to him slagging us off, so the current situation is the best it can be.

This article sums it up:

This has come from City supporting photographers as well so they're not dismissing us, just telling it like it is:

"The internet take-up for Manchester City pictures is really poor," says Eamonn.

"When South America wake up they instantly search 'Man United', when Hong Kong and China wake up, they do the same.

"All the data and statistics tell the media that there is no point buying in Manchester City stuff because advertisers won't pay for it."

Really good post mate!

Of course he's an awful pundit but at some point it just seems so personal and vile. Even the pundits who played for the "rags" or the "dippers" haven't been trashed as bad as Micah's being trashed by the fans of the club he played for.

He has never said anything in support of the 115 charges, never said anything negative about Pep, never being involved in any misconduct, he's just someone who has a few laughs every now and then, he isn't a good pundit but more than half of them aren't either, what makes his case so bad? What makes him the worse of the bunch? Why is there some special hatred towards him?

From the posts I've seen here on bluemoon by certain members, you're either the outspoken Yaya type and then you get hated on for not being quiet, you're either the Richard's type and you get hated on for being too loud and happy (and not "earning it") or you're the Kompany type, in which case you have every single thing that comes you way scruitinzed, reviewed and researched to see if you have indeed "earned it", correct? And when you point it out, you immediately have the "Here we go again" dog whistle thrown your way. Fucking laughable

Hey, maybe do a bit less typecasting, yeah?

Pundits are supposed to do a reasonably unbiased pundit job, not promote their former club. So defending us isn’t a professional endorsement.

But at least you accept he’s utter shit as a “technician”.

I’m not sure many posters hate him as he seems like a decent guy who you’d enjoy a pint with.

For me, though, I cringed at how poor he was when he started out and cringe again now he has fluffers applying a bit of varnish.

He typifies how so many talentless personalities are monetised these days. As such, I look behind the laugh and find the guy totally irritating.

Strange because they always seem to have a City photo to hand for bad news or indeed when they wanted to slate Raheem for his England performances, up pops a City photo, do those photos just get passed around for free?

Now he is sucking Beckham off, he doesn't even know what a half volley is the fucking prick
That was fucking bizarre. Watched that clip and thought surely he’s just acting because how can anyone who’s played football never mind at the top level not know what a half volley is?
