Micah Richards the pundit

Did i say Foden hasnt played well this season? At times i said and that is true.
The point is i think it would be hard to argue that he has not been one of our better players this season, and not one of our poorer players as your initial post infered. Anyway, I think criticising Micah for expressing an opinion is a bit silly, just because you happen to not agree with it. He isnt there to be Peps mouthpiece he is there to give his opinion is he not?

I get the impression sometimes that he's trying so hard to sound cohesive and articulate, that he actually forgets what he's trying to say.
In fact, there was a moment last night when he was digging himself into a contradictory hole until Souness interrupted, and steered him towards a rational argument,

Micah is a breath of fresh air as a pundit, but I feel he has gone overboard about Foden’s playing time. Most of us would like to see Phil more, but Micah is veering too much to the pundits who would love to unsettle Phil.
Maybe Micah should be mentioning the fact that Pep has ‘trusted’ Phil to start all / most of our Chumps League games - something the other pundits were having a go at last year when Phil had started playing more regularly in the Pem. Some pundits definitely have an agenda and I’d love Micah to get established enough to start to call this out. But first he must get established or he’ll end up reporting for Soccer Saturday from Accrington Stanley!

My point was that Micah making a big issue about he has to play every game was just rediculous. Foden has started 13/14 games this season and come on as sub in plenty others. He's been brilliant at times, but also at times has shown his inexperience and given the ball away a lot and been average in certain games. For Micah to so vehemently push he should start every game, for me it just came across as pandering to the media line that he is not happy at City.

Foden has not played well this season? Really? I can think of one game where he was average but in the rest he was probably one of our better players.
He got a run in the team and was consistently poor for several matches. I was also irritated by Micah's cliched comments: Foden is being treated like Bernado, Torres etc and being picked on form.

He starts rambling and says very little, early days but he needs a lot of improvement, that laugh will only take him so far.

i like micah richards a lot. but hate tv pundits full stop ? controlled and even scripted with fear of losing your job and place on prime time tv slot

roy keane seems to be the only one that can upset the apple cart and keep his place ? maybe it just good tv watching him take a part united ? maybe because he was at united he can do it to a point but its funny when he over steps his mark and they have to reel him in

I like Micah, I just found myself getting abit annoyed the amount of time he question Phil playing. Mention once perhaps but not want seemed like over and over again. That's my only gripe yesterday. I didnt hear him shut anyone one because I got fed you the Phil doesnt play enough, so turned over. So missed Phil being interviewed :(

Please can you remind me of his consistently poor games ? And then ask yourself was he playing CM and also how does his playing time compare to others that have or are having poor runs of form like Sterling and Mahrez.

Unfortunately Micah is very limited and repetitive with his comments. His biggest plus is his very likeable personality and funny laugh which is a refreshing change from what the other pundits bring. He will bring a bit of fun into the discussions which the others rarely do.

I don't think it's even that, Micah wants him to start every week, well Micah want to check the facts.

He HAS started every week, once every week, and as we have been playing twice a week, it's been start sub start sub start, he's played mostly midweek ever since he was picked for a midweek international by Southgate.

He's a funny guy but offers no insight into the game but then who does on Sky ?

Virtually no one in our squad (apart from Ederson and Rodri) starts every match. It's called managing the squad and that's why Pep is one of the best managers in the world (especially at developing young players as he did at Barca). I like Micah but he made a fool of himself yesterday.

I like his punditry, its refreshing and engaging as a viewer especially when contrasted against keane and souness. And its nice to see a pro city voice coming through on all of his platforms sky bbc etc. And you can see his passion for the game and that hes watching as a fan rather than with any motives or whatever.

I am slightly concerned however on the number of pro united opinion pieces on bbc website that have his name as writer. Dont see many others putting out those types of articles talking up their rivals.

He's only just starting out - someone has seen something there to work with.
Let's be honest we don't have a large pool of ex-City players to pick from for pundits. I'm just glad we've finally got one out there

Bizarre that some are slagging Micah off, who do you prefer, Shearer, Murphy, Merson, Owen, Lawrenson, Keane, Carragher, Neville! People need to get some perspective.

Some want a pundit that they agree with 100% of the time. Which is near impossible.

I'm thankful we finally have someone who will is fair with us and will fight our corner most of the time.

Yes, apart from Micah in recent times we have had Quinn, Lescott, Dunne and Buzzer, Quinn appears to dislike us and says nowt positive, Buzzer made a couple of brief appearances but is far too much in love with City to be able to offer anything like an unbiased opinion. Lescott and Dunne were Ok but appear to have fallen out of favour, I haven't seen either of them in a while doing any punditry.

Dickov and Goater are much better than Micah who seems to be there for his comedy value!
