And when in positions in which he can, scores goals.

Correct me if i'm wrong but Richards has scored more goals than Pab?
Reckon they've scored same amount but fair few of Micah's come from set pieces, I think. That's no knock on his part, just that Zab scores more from open play which is odd for a player who "offers nothing going forward".

He's scored eight goals in five seasons. Hardly prolific. But the point you ignored is that this is not the point. He can't overlap at all or cross very well, therefore possession usually breaks down when he's attacking.

Good defender though of course, and with a pacy right winger in front of him this matters much less.

People always refer to him being faster, stronger etc. and this is true.....he is a great athlete. But the problem is his lack of defensive quality/positional skills against top players and top teams.

If he can improve that part of his game then he would be a world beater for sure.
That is bollocks. He snuffed Ribery, the best winger he'll ever have to play and did superbly against the likes of Robben as a youth.

Rarely have I seen Richards get beat in a 1 on 1.

Richards wouldn't have let Ronaldo skip over him like a fairy like he did to Zaba, who has a tendency of stabbing too much.
Are you sure? No offence, but you clearly didn't watch much of last season if you think Zabaleta gets beaten on 1 on 1's more than Richards. They both have their pros and cons, and Zabaleta doesn't often make a fool of himself in defence but he doesn't burst past players like Micah can do.

I never said Zabaleta gets beaten more on 1 on 1's then Richards....

I wasn't even alluding to anything of the sort.

I said, rarely have I seen Richards beaten 1 on 1 and that's fact.

Micah is the poorer defender, that's not opinion it's fact- however it all swings in roundabouts, under bobs system zab has excelled and layed his marker, under MP's Micah will flourish as it suits his game!

Micah does things he has no right to,I always feel he's not 100% in control of what hes doing..And his throw ins are gay..

love him to bits though.

I've a feeling Micah will prove you wrong this year.

Nice problem to have. What Zab is is a great squad member of course, and a good player to have on the bench as he can play at left back and holding midfielder in a crisis.

More than happy if he does.

Over the last two years, and it maybe down to injury problems, Zabs has proven he is better in both defense and attack and this has been recognised by fans players and pundits with widespread acknowledgement that he is one of the best in europe.

Zab is better in attack?

Zab will run into the space on the right but he can't get around a fullback and he can't cross. He's a very solid defender who has learned to work around the limitations of his game - pace. But last year, with our narrow system, Zab's ineffectiveness going forward cost us. It's one of the reasons we stuggled to break down defensive teams.

Yes I feel he is better. You say He can't cross. Does that mean you consider Micah to have a decent cross on him? I don't think either have an amazing ball in but Zab is more intelligent to get into the position to do so.

If I wanted one player to be a success it would be Micah as he was here prior to the money and he's played for no one else. So I want Micah to be better, but at present he isn't.

You say the narrowness of the team last year effected Zabaletta yet he was fans player of the year, voted best fullback in the league by players and I don't see how Micah would have been more successful in the system.
