That is bollocks. He snuffed Ribery, the best winger he'll ever have to play and did superbly against the likes of Robben as a youth.

Rarely have I seen Richards get beat in a 1 on 1.

Richards wouldn't have let Ronaldo skip over him like a fairy like he did to Zaba, who has a tendency of stabbing too much.
Are you sure? No offence, but you clearly didn't watch much of last season if you think Zabaleta gets beaten on 1 on 1's more than Richards. They both have their pros and cons, and Zabaleta doesn't often make a fool of himself in defence but he doesn't burst past players like Micah can do.
I never said Zabaleta gets beaten more on 1 on 1's then Richards....

I wasn't even alluding to anything of the sort.

I said, rarely have I seen Richards beaten 1 on 1 and that's fact.

?....
You said Richards wouldn't get beaten 1-1 vs Ronaldo like Zaba did? Ronaldo does that to MUCH better defenders than Micah, so not really sure how you come to that conclusion. In a 1-1 sprint with the option to bulldoze someone out of the way then i take Richards, if its square on like this incident was then Zaba has the better chance because he's a much better defender than Micah is and I believe thats pretty much universally accepted.

No it isn't.

Haha OK, maybe universally was the wrong word - I will swap that with 'Generally', if that's OK with you.

they're both top class defenders IMO, both do a cracking job and i'm comfortable with either.

just a shame we don't have someone to share that on the other side with clichy.

If anything, Zaba has improved massively defensively in the last 2 years. Before he was a bit of a liability with a winger attacking him. Micah was generally better defensively, even if on occasions he used his pace to recover, he still had that pace and capacity to recover where as Zaba was a booking, hacking machine at times. Also Micah was excellent and just as good, if not better than Zab in the title winning season and he was then injured for 80% of last season in which we saw a stormer from Zaba and proved he can hold his own and can defend just as well as any other right back in the league.

Don't get me wrong, I love them both, and I have confidence they can both play to the high standard required without resorting to 'one is better than the other' because we are blessed with two excellent right backs.

Love Zab but a fully fit Micah is a monster of a player

And a fully fit Micah is sort of a unicorn/phoenix/chupacabra.

We're just incredibly lucky to have Zabaleta. If Micah is to regain his spot (and I truly have no clue) then we need to be prepared for his inevitable injury. Being able to bring in Zabaleta is beyond a luxury, considering you can make a credible argument that the team doesn't miss a beat with the substitution.

Micah is just getting back to his best

Maybe can play at left back if Clichy is out.
