Referee for yesterdays match and while refs usually come in for a lot of stick on forum's i really cant think of any decision i disagreed with yesterday.
He was clever in the way he handled the game, allowing fouls to be foul's and not being overly harsh on any player when he brought out a yellow card.

Could go on to be one of the best ref's the Prem has had to date, and at the age of 26 he has loads of years in front of him at the top level.

An absolute breath of fresh air.

i totally agree

Michael is top draw. Still does a lot of pre season friendlies for Northern League teams and does not charge them a penny, always says he needs the fitness. Now this might only save them £50 but the other North East ref in the Premier League will not get not do this as it is not his worth!

His dad was also a ref in the Football League and retired a couple of seasons ago due to injury. If you ever saw his dad ref you would know were Michael gets it.

he was my RDO when i was in the north east and took my ref course, he's a really good lad, good to see him reffing our games, now the 3rd he's done and the 3rd we've won!

the same thought occurred to me about 15 minutes after the final whistle. very nice to have a game go by when the ref was not a major factor in it.

it's a fine line between a ref asserting control over the game and having him dominate it. Oliver kept control just enough to let the game flow and progress naturally. top class job.

Perhaps someone should let Riley know how good the ref was, and suggest that all other prima donnas are compelled to watch a video of the game to see how to do the job properly.
