Michael Shields Freed

As Dubai Blue quite rightly points out, LFC's role in all this has been sickening. The only thing that is completely without doubt in this sorry episode is that a Liverpool supporter from the City bounced a paving slab off another human being's head. How are the club in a postition to act in a holier than thou manner and now celebrate Shields's release? One of their own attempted to kill a man and that person is free as a bird. Is that a cause for celebration?

Are you also aware that the Bishop of Liverpool read out a statment on Shields's behalf? It would be funny if it wasn't in such bad taste.

top post ... reminds me why i hate lfc so much

Thank fuck for that, its one less campaign for the red dippers

The flower shops will be empty tonight in Pool

What about poor old Martin Georgiev? Wheres the justice for him? People are forgetting that this bloke got a friggin chunk of pavement smashed into his head, and will live with that through out the rest of his life, yet the culprit (whether it was Shields or not), will never be caught and live life doing all the things he wants. Quite sad really. Instead of campaigning for someone accused of it to be released, why not campaign for whoever did it, to be named, shamed, and brought to justice?

So two hours after seeing his team come from 3-0 down at half time to draw 3-3 and win probably the best European Cup final ever on penalties, Mr Shields goes straight back to his hotel and sleeps?

You would of thought the best thing to do would be out celebrating and drinking and having a good time.

No? Okay then.

I might go and buy a chicken from Tesco now and place it somewhere in Liverpool, now Shields is free they need something to greive over.

Because "justice" only works one way for Scousers. The whole episode is shameful.

As reported this whole thing stinks: Jack Straw was 'convinced' by evidence from Shields' family as to what the other guy said in their presence - ie 2nd hand hearsay.

It'd be very interesting if the same standard of evidence was applied to Islamic terror suspects.

Careful - I said something similar on another forum earlier today and a Liverpool fan put me straight by informing me that Shields was in Istanbul for the match and this incident actually took place in the early hours of the Sunday morning after the Wednesday they played the match. Although it doesn't change most of what went on, I did feel a bit foolish not knowing this.

Really? I always understood it happened in the early hours after the match?
