Middle East Conflict

I see Hamas deliberately targeted a Children's hospital and Supermarket in Ashkelon.
They did warn everyone to get out if Ashkelon though so I guess that's somthing.

Yes, but the concept of a Ukrainian nation has been around for several centuries in that people identified as Ukrainian irrespective of who was currently governing/occupying the area. People identifying as Israelites and referencing the land of the Israelites can be found in the Bible.

The modern establishment of both nations is relatively new, but neither sprang into existence out of nothing. There are historical links between the peoples and the geographic regions. And yes, you can say the same for the Palestinians. Given this, the creation of a separate Palestinian state would seem to be the logical solution, but there are people who violently oppose this and determined not to make it happen and even if it did happen, would there be peace? Ukraine and Russia are two separate independent states and yet one still invades the other. There is always some dick getting themselves into power and trying to recreate past glories or past empires or avenge past wrongs, perceived or otherwise.

At some point, people on both sides are going to have to break this cycle. And that will mean consigning the past to the past and looking at a way of creating a future, because what’s happening right now ain’t it.

I think this is the first post I’ve read on BM where the bible is “exhibit A”… fair fucks to you Bob, it’s ballsy I’ll give you that.

Because believe it or not a sizeable amount of the British population aren't particularly proud of Britain's role in the oppression of so many countries throughout history. That leads to sympathy with various oppressed or previously oppressed states and countries.

Particular to Palestine, there was rightly a huge outpouring of sympathy from Britain and people throughout Britain to Israel regarding the barbaric terrorist attack on Saturday morning, but many feel that the government and media here will set the narrative that Israel are and have always been the good guys and Palestine are the baddies. I'd guess many of those waving Palestine flags aren't celebrating Hamas or the attacks themselves but letting the Palestinian people know that they haven't been forgotten about in all of this and that the rhetoric can't simply be manufactured and history rewritten here.
A sizable amount of the British population know the truth of history regardless of what the political and media establishments would like them to believe.
Just like football wasn't invented in 1992 and Manchester City weren't founded in 2008, this shitshow didn't start last Saturday morning, it started a hundred years ago and most people know exactly who started it and what has been happening since.

Egypt could allow supplies in , but they want nothing todo with it , where is the uproar about that ?
Egypt were once in charge of Gaza for decades before they lost it in the war with Israel.
Personally, I would recommend that Israel return Gaza to Egyptian control if they can dislodge Hamas from that territory. This would bring calm and end all the should of "open prison".

It's an open air prison for 2 1/2 Million which Israel is the Governer/Warden of.
Gaza would have really flourished if only they had good leaders.
I recall before the first intifada, there was no wall between Israel and Gaza. People traveled freely to work in Israel and returned home to their families living in Gaza.
All that changed when Arafat rejected the two-state peace proposal in 2000 and launched the intifada. Gaza has been going downhill ever since.
Sad.
