Great post. Without acceptance that the 'other' side has the right to exist then there can be no trust and no progress.

And it goes the same the other way. There is now a big problem with Israeli ultra-Nationalism that is going to be very hard to temper. People are deluded that they think it’s going to be just dead easy to get people sit sit down and talk and make peace at the end of a few signatures on some paper and a shake of hands.

There are people on both sides of the conflict in Northern Ireland that did not want it to stop, but the vast majority of people on both sides will do anything for a peaceful life

I won’t be impossible but I think this situation has far more extremes to it than Northern Ireland. Both in ideology and hatred, as well as actions and deaths.

Don’t forget, many of the people involved in the peace talks for Northern Ireland were from the British and Irish governments, neither of which were situated nor lived in Northern Ireland. Whereas here, it’s solely entrenched with everyone who lives in the region.

No. Maybe read the nuance. What you seem to be saying is there an innate hatred of Jews within the Palestinian Muslim culture.

Hamas themselves claim to have 500km of tunnels, to give you an idea of how big that is the London underground network is only 400km. Don't tell me they aren't tunnels for terror and the vast majority are needed because of a so called blockade. Does Egypt not blockade the same area as well or doesn't that suit your agenda. Maybe if Hamas don't rob billions for their tunnels then the normal citizen could have become richer. Where do you think Hamas is holding all the hostages now standing at 220? Give your head a wobble, wake up and smell the coffee. Are you defending a terrorist organisation that invaded a sovereign country and murdered / slaughtered / raped / mutilated / burnt and tortured over 1,300 people and kidnapped 220?

Have you considered Hamas aren't the most reliable source of information over how many tunnels they have?

This is all very 2002. We heard endlessly about Osama bin Laden's incredible tunnel complex that would make Bond villains jealous of his lair and it turned out they were a few damp surface level caves in the mountains.



There's a reason Hamas attacked by driving a bulldozer through a security checkpoint and not by sneaking into Israel via their secret death tunnels.

It's also particularly unbelieveable that the IDF had no idea what was going on 3 weeks ago, but now knows everything about Hamas' super secret tunnel network and can bomb it to smithereens.

The vast majority predate Hamas. That’s not to say you’re wrong saying what they’re using them for now too, but the original reason they’re there is to bypass the blockade. Egypt spent a fair amount closing a load (again before Hamas came to power).
