Middle East Conflict

Terror tunnels? Some are certainly a strategic threat to Israel but the vast majority were built to circumvent the Israeli blockade on Gaza after Hamas gained power - which incidentally prevented all exports from Gaza so not entirely sure how they should have got “richer” on planet Eds. This might come as a shock but sometimes there are adverse consequences to Israel’s decisions.
Hamas themselves claim to have 500km of tunnels, to give you an idea of how big that is the London underground network is only 400km. Don't tell me they aren't tunnels for terror and the vast majority are needed because of a so called blockade. Does Egypt not blockade the same area as well or doesn't that suit your agenda. Maybe if Hamas don't rob billions for their tunnels then the normal citizen could have become richer. Where do you think Hamas is holding all the hostages now standing at 220? Give your head a wobble, wake up and smell the coffee. Are you defending a terrorist organisation that invaded a sovereign country and murdered / slaughtered / raped / mutilated / burnt and tortured over 1,300 people and kidnapped 220?

Yes Egypt does and has blockaded the border

You don’t seem to be very in control of your emotions. Perhaps you should have a lay down and pop back when you can read stuff calmly.

Fully in control thanks, great excuse to avoid the truth though. Off you pop to your Left Wing terrorist supporting demonstrations. In fact if you support Hamas so much why don't you pop off to Gaza and set up home there.

Both of the Bush presidents disliked the Israeli government’s they had to deal with
Undoubtedly.
Many in Likud are nasty pieces of work and do their very best to piss the US off.
At some point Likud need to understand that US support for Isreal is not absolutely unconditional it does require certain behaviours on Israel's part.

Actually incorrect in that there were plenty of Jewish attacks on Arabs well before 48. As well as vice versa.
In addition the first Palesinian war was caused by the destruction of Palestinian villages and the subsequent fleeing of 700,000 people.
Not sure you quite get how much Palestinian land and property was sequestered during this period.
Indeed. And both sides attacked the British and the British attacked both sides.

All I’m saying is that the Palestinians are not just killing Israelis because of what Israel has subjected them to over the last number of decades. The ones doing the killing aren’t doing it for any reason other than to wipe Israel and Jews off the face of the Earth, even if the region was peaceful it would still go on.

If you’re sure you’re in control. Find me one post of mine in this thread that doesn’t give a balanced view of the situation from both sides or one that hasn’t called out both sides for their behaviours. Just one. I’ll wait.

And as for suggesting I move home… grow the fuck up.

Palestinians were killing Jews before there was even a state of Israel in the 1920s and 30s, just for having the audacity to emigrate there. Also when they invaded Israel multiple times over the following decades at first without provocation from Israel first.

So it’s a bit disingenuous to say that they’re only killing them because of Israel’s actions over the last number of decades because they’ve been killing them for a century before any of these horrific actions were even thought of.

And that is the root cause of this entire problem there… there are always going to be many who simply do not want Jews there, full stop. They have and always will kill them no matter what. Even if Israel opens up to Palestinians and holds their regions as fair-shared land with the same rights for everyone, there will always be Jews killed for being Jews in that region.

That is the problem, number one, that needs sorting out before anything else.

Although, it must be said, that the Israeli ultra-Nationalism is now also a big problem that will also need sorting out.
Great post. Without acceptance that the 'other' side has the right to exist then there can be no trust and no progress.

He doesn’t support Hamas. Last time I checked @metalblue was a die hard Tory. I mean, he may have changed his views but that would be hell of a political journey.

So after the Balfour Declaration which promised Jews a homeland that included land already occupied by Palestinian Arabs and reneged on agreement already made with the Arabs?

I think you may have a prejudicial view, and lack objectivity.

Why would anyone be welcoming to people who were clearly settling in their country with the view to take it over or taking a controlling share of political life?

It's the thing repeated as a lie in the UK and other European countries to get people wound up about immigrants, but if it was true, wouldn't they have some justification in hating immigrants?

You've ascribed something abnormal to the Palestinian Arabs, a pathological hatred of Jews, when it was actually something quite normal. Distrust of a people with their own agenda that ran in direct opposition to their interests.

Even the most peaceful cultures wouldn't have accepted that. Maybe go talk to a Native American.
You’ve just agreed with the point I was making despite thinking you’ve disagreed with it.
