Someone should just ask them how many civilian casualties are acceptable in the pursuit of revenge.

5,000? 10,000? 20,000? 50,000? There must be a number of civilian deaths where even politicians in the west decide that "we fully support any and all action Israel takes" stops working.

What if they fail to wipe out Hamas? What if you kill 20,000 civilians and in a years time everything is back to how it was in September, is that OK?

That's what this is all about now. A NUMBER to satisfy everyone. You'd think over 3000 Chidren murdered would and should be enough.

Then even if Hamas were willing to release hostages to get a ceasefire, what does Israel do with no hostage families campaigning against a ground invasion that would put hostages at risk?

2. Hamas must give up their arms - all of them
3. A two state solution has to be agreed
4. Gaza needs to elect a government that isn't a terrorist group

How do you defeat a terrorist organisation that hides among civilians. You have a bunch of radical nut jobs that welcome death and will take innocents with them. Israel will never win this war as others will get involved due to casualties among general population and it becomes a religious war.
