Would be a free transfer of a top class player we have regularly been linked with and given our injury record the fact that Laporte is always linked with a move and Ake was this summer it could make sense. Yeh advance notice would allow us to strike a deal with a club to buy one of our other CB

I don't see it. We are 5 CB deep. Even if we lose one we'd be down to 4. Chances of getting another CB is almost zero.

Even if it's a known old target.
