Millner vs. Ireland - alternative thread

The price of Milner bothers me but if we get him I'd see him playing most weeks, as we set up yesterday I'd have him replacing Barry as a first choice CM, if Yaya is injured or rested I'd expect Milner and Barry to play together.

I'd be inclined to keep Ireland as long as he'd accept being primary back up to Silva, this type of player didn't really fit to our system last season, with the changes we've made they certainly can this season (assuming yesterday is anything to go by).

It's the 25 man squad rule though, plus, you don't know what Ireland's thoughts are on being a reserve player.
I personally think to get the best from Ireland he needs, like SWP, to be playing every week with no performance pressure.
It'll be the best thing for his career to move on

We hope to play a lot of games this season and, while Mancini will have his first choice players, I think he'll rotate/rest a bit more than Hughes did, so assuming we go well in the cups I'd expect 2nd choice players to play a reasonable amount. Your right though, I don't know if Stevie would be happy with that and if he's not then I wouldn't stand in his way.

milner can play in 3/4 positions ireland can play in 1

milner has had 2/3n good season ireland has had 1

ireland head aint with it sometimes as everyon know milners seems ok

milner aint 15/20m times better though

From what we know from OS then Stevie has said he will be happy and knows that he has to be ready when he is called be it the 17th match of the season in the 70th minute he will be ready when he is called. I would think Stevie would want to have a chance of winning medals with City than moving away from the club just as it is starting to happen.

This to me stinks like the Dunne deal last season he was more than willing to battle for his place but the manager or club had other reasons to get rid. Dunne ended up getting into the team of the season last year. Out of all our younger players I would of never thought that Ireland would be on his way out before the other players madness.

since dunnie has left us (shown the door) he got villas player of the season award. I hope stevie doesn't do similar. He could bite us on the arse as he has the ability at times...I doubt it though!

I agree, but Dunnie was going stale staying with us, moving did him the world of good. I think it will be the same with Ireland.
