For £30m they can swivel.

They're quick to have a go at us for spending lots of money but what chance do we have when clubs triple the value of a player when City step in.
 
If they want 30 million then we should move on other targets and look abroad. I think Milner will be an excellent signing if we get him, but when they take the piss, it's time to take a stand.

Toure, Silva, and Boateng have all been signed at reasonable prices. Silva cost 24 mil approximately, if an English player had his talent, he'd cost 35-40 million.

The Champions League is little more than a cartel of the super rich and super successful - setting aside any bias - no Club has more to answer for in this respect than" Brandchester United" - they are a brand - a business and no longer a football Club of and for the people. The "fans" they have are the fans they deserve -many of them - certainly in Asia wouldn't even be able to find Manchester on a map of the UK!
We are all loving this challenge to the status quo - let's hope it succeeds and lets hope that Manchester City doesn't lose it's soul and sell out in the the way that the Rags have.
Signs are good - the owners commitment to the Club, it's fans and a deeper social commitment are there for all to see. Witness the New York
project detailed on the OS.
This is a proper Football Club with proper fans - let's hope we can end the domination of the self-serving minority who have besmearched football for far too long.
I live in in Bristol and work with several typical glory seeking Man Utd "fans" - I look forward to the day when these non-fans decide to give up on their club!

Short memories. Remember when Chelsea came in for SWP?

We didn't want to sell, and neither do Villa.

Milner was central to Villa's team last season and a major reason why they got to Wembley

It will come to a head soon enough because Villa have to get in replacements for Milner, so they either sell him now, or they keep him. I think they have decided to sell, because O'Neil has come out and made it difficult for Milner by saying Milner wont renew his contract. Makes life awkward but not impossible for Milner if he stays. But if you are a manager you should make life as easy as possible for the player.

Whatever happens every away game is going to be like a Cup Final next season. Was bad enough last season with teams like Everton playing the game like a Merseyside Derby but with City's profile it's going to be even worse this season. That's why we need players like Milner in the team. No sure some of the foreign players will be ready for it. Not questioning their bottle. There's just nothing to beat experience
 
A question for the Milner bashers.

How come Villa fans have gone nuclear at the idea of losing him. If he's as crap as some Blue Mooners believe, why would they be whinging?

I disagree i really think they want to sell as m.o has already stated that they must buy to even stand still.The longer we hold out iam sure the will come down,tbh the guys not worth £20m in my opinion but understand that is the minimum we will have to spend.The fee i believe will be £25m and i think we will pay that.
The Milner saga had gone quite for a while and i think M.O and villa have seen that we have been spending money and are getting sweaty palms because they need our money more than we need their player because they will get better value on a number of players for their squad than we will get.After saying all that i rate the guy but lets not us let villa take the p!ss

get milner at all costs!!! hes the future of englands midfield aswell as citys, we lacked goals from midfield last year and he is proven in this league

cant wait till we get milner, kolarov, balotelli and maybe 1 more ;) then the exodus can begin!

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has hinted at making a move for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady.

McGeady has been strongly linked with a move to Villa with the Republic of Ireland international tipped to leave Celtic this summer

Celtic chief Neil Lennon has admitted he thought McGeady was keen on a move away from Parkhead in search of a fresh challenge and Villa are thought to be leading the chase for the skilful star's signature.

O'Neill admits he will be looking to bring in new players if Villa end up selling Manchester City target James Milner and he has refused to rule out a move for McGeady.

"There's no point in me mentioning names but, without wanting to lose players of the calibre of Milner, we would want to try to recruit some players," said O'Neill.

"But, as the chairman said at the back end of last season, it's probably going to be a case of having to sell to buy and that's something I'm delving into at the moment."

"I think Aiden McGeady has the ability to play in the Premier League, without question.

"I had him as a kid at Celtic and played him without worrying too much about his youth."

Agree, of all our signings Milner would be the strongest character by a mile, guaranteed to prosper week after week. In Toure we have a bloke who's not played much for a while, a squad player and in Silva a gamble as to if he settles or can hack the the PL.
 
i think milner would be a superb signing!! if played if the right position he could bloom into the new lampard due to his age and better players around him!!

We do because our midfield still lacks pace, mobility and guile, unless Silva is going to be used centrally we are as devoid of attacking thrust through the middle as last season.

He isn't crap but he just isn't worth £30million.

He had an average season and if anyone else wanted him they could of got him for about £15 - £20 million.

Ireland had a much better season in 08/09 but we couldn't flog him for £30 million, its stupid.
