A question for the Milner bashers.

How come Villa fans have gone nuclear at the idea of losing him. If he's as crap as some Blue Mooners believe, why would they be whinging?

He isn't crap but he just isn't worth £30million.

He had an average season and if anyone else wanted him they could of got him for about £15 - £20 million.

Ireland had a much better season in 08/09 but we couldn't flog him for £30 million, its stupid.
i admit the price is on the high side but dont forget ireland has only had one good season!! milner has been consistantly good for the last 3-4 years!! could turn out to be a very important signing if it happens.

I still don't believe we need him. I'm happy with Silva behind Tevez, Johno left, SWP right, De Jong and Toure behind. Then we still have Ireland, Barry, Johnson, Vieira, Bellamy, Zabaleta, Weiss who can all play in one of those 5 positions.

Where is Milner going to fit in? It's just stupid to spend so much on someone we don't even need that much.

milner can play left, right, central and even as a full back...perfect box to box midfielder who scores goals, the next lampard or gerrard if we dont get him now we would be stupid

Milner Toure Barry Silva

Johnson Toure Milner Silva

Johnson Toure Barry Milner

he adds more movement to the midfield aswell, so hopefully no more side to side passing

Yeah but in that one season, Ireland showed much more than Milner has ever showed. I admit that he hasn't had a good year, but you don't go backwards as a player, we just have to encourage Ireland to push on and live up to his potential.

It would be a disaster if we bought Milner and got rid of Ireland imo.

milner would fit in perfectly aswell as villa play a similar system of little n large up top, 2 pacy wingers and partners a more defensive player in the middle

Like the way Mancini came out with the we would be interested in signing Landon Donavon comment yesterday, Day later O'neill shits himself and suddenly announcies that Villa are prepared to sell Milner. Masterstroke !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either £22mill(with add ons) or £24 mill(no add ons) take it or leave it.

Expect chelsea, Spurs and poss United and Arsenal to be interested as well.

...........Tevez

Come a long way since then, but still would be a great line up when Silva et al are having a well earned rest.

Milner's a great player and I'll be glad when it's done. Can see him coming straight to us now without going back to pre-season with Villa. We need to learn from the Lescott "saga" and get him in asap...

Valid points. The product is worth what the purchaser is willing to pay. A worth cannot be evaluated by a bystander. If the Sheikh, the board and RM believe he is worth £50m, then he is worth £50m (admittedly exaggerated to emphasize the point).

I don't believe we will pay £30m, they'll be a compromise. The over inflated price is merely the City tax, which is very real despite the joking. However, i'm betting the fee will be undisclosed and we'll never know the price (although most of the papers will print between £30 and £35m).

Milner will be our player of the season next year. I know it's a bold call but I honestly believe he will be that good. I hate to say it but he'll be like Fletcher is to the rags and we really need that type of player. Mancini supposedly wants to play the diamond formation and his signings clearly fit into this formation. Our midfield will have toure sitting just in front of the defence then Barry and milner ahead who will be expected to attack and defend and silva will play just behind the strikers. In this formation Ireland can cover for silva but isn't the type of player to play the same role as milner and Barry.

Honestly think milner will be a great buy

good post that mate!! seem to remember khaldhoons first interview where he stated that the value of a player is dictated by the value of the selling club and wether the the buying club is prepared to pay the amount specified! i agree though it wont be £30m.

as i have said before quality signing if he does and a great addition to the squad just the player we need not a mass amount of frills with milner but 100% throughout the 90 minutes he plays.

He'll sign there's no two ways about it..............we've given this one too much attention for it not to happen.

1: We've been on this one since May and i've never heard anything negative about our communication.

2: The lad is desperate to join (half way there)

3: Villa have come to terms they are going to lose him and can't do much about it (nail in coffin)

4: Wait for announcement

Inflated price but it comes with the wanting the right ingrediants to make the perfect dish...............

Ireland's best season was OK, still went missing a lot, had a lot of goals set up for him which made it look a whole lot better. Milner was the hub of a team that achieved a lot more than us in Ireland's best year. Finally Milner has everything right between his ears, Ireland is a complete fruit cake!
