I wish there was some way of stopping this transfer to be honest. It epitomizes everything wrong with English football right now. Simply put, James Milner is not worth the 25-30m we’re reportedly going to pay for him.

Why are English players’ values so utterly fucked? 25-30m would buy us Mesut Ozil. Milner or Ozil? Who would you rather have? That’s a tough one! (dripping with sarcasm)

Luis Suarez is valued at 20m by Ajax, just imagine how much he’d be valued at if he had an English passport, it would be at least twice that! And for no reason whatsoever.

For 30m I fully expect Milner to be in the top 3 midfielders in the Premier League this coming season, right up there with Cesc Fabregas, anything less will be completely unacceptable.

To all those saying Milner is average/shit/one season wonder, what about Ireland? Yes Milner's just had his best season, but even before last season in the season's where he showed potential and matured as a player, he still looked better than Ireland bar 08/09. Ireland was average in 05/06, again in 06/07 bar one or two performances, again in 07/08 under Sven bar one or two performances, superb 98 per cent of the time in 08/09 and horse shit last season. At least Milner has never truly gone off at the boil at any point in his career, he's gone about his business quietly and become a better player season by season. Theres a reason why Villa payed 12m for him (then again they did pay 6m for Dunne, lol).

We're not about to spend 30m on Ireland though.
