Milner [Merged]

de Jong is MUCH better than Barry in every aspect of the game, passing is included in that.

Sure, de Jong isn't a creative passer but at least he doesn't fuck up as much as Barry. Even though he does on the RARE occasion he tries to thread it through to the strikers like Iniesta, but he's not that type of player, plus he will be even better next season because he won't have to play in a 442, he can play in his actual DM position and with Yaya T and Silva along side him instead of Vieira or Barry he actually has some creative options to pass to.

Barry never passes a ball with the right amount of power, he either taps it and it gets intercepted, or he blasts it and it either goes out of play or goes too far and gets intercepted, I noticed this VERY early doors after we signed him, Barry was the last City player to touch the ball in about more than half the goals we conceded last season.

I actaully wouldn't be that bothered if we sold him, a straight swap for Milner would be exelent bisuness. The guy is more overrated than Jenas.

It depends on how much support the forwards need. If Mancini can get away with it, he may play Barry, DeJong & Toure as part of a defensive screen in front of the defence away from home in big games provided the forwards still nick a goal or two. Especially if we have Kolarov & A.N. Other at fullback who get forward & help the attack.

Then he could drop Barry & DeJong against the shite teams & go on the attack.

There could well be a lot of team changes during the season.

Barry was average at best last season, and thats a flattering statement.

He is an extremely overrated footballer and has been ever since capello started picking him for england. Hes too slow and isnt mobile enough, even his overhyped passing ability isnt up to much.

Barry or Nige? Anyone with half a footballing brain knows Nige is better.

Nige cant play hollywood passes, course thats a necessity in his position, because that Mascherano fella sprays the ball round like Xavi right?

it's not the hollywood pass, it's getting the damn thing under control quickly, then pinging it in to feet. mascherano does that extremely well, even if it is sideways a lot of the time. sometimes de jong looks good at it, but not often enough in my book. I just think the anchor man role has always been about influencing the game through discipline, craft, intelligence, not aggression. my ideal anchor man gets away with murder, buys cheap free kicks, and can pull the strings a bit as well. I always thought we had a better shape when kompany played that role. he's just got the elegant, efficient style on the ball to get things moving.

barry, I agree, he had a pretty average season. mind you I definitely thought he improved towards the end. true, we saw in this world cup, he's probably not mobile enough to leave back on his own, but he was only half fit, and the england players fucked up against germany, central defenders and fullbacks going up for the set plays, complete chaos. I don't think he does the hollywood pass but he is an expert at making space for himself, and he does know how to pull the strings. he's definitely got good vision. I would think he is extremely well suited to playing on the left of a diamond, as the 'back' three are all going to play pretty centrally, unlike a normal 4-4-2 where the left and right midfielders provide width. silva in a free role will pop up on the left, with two strikers up front you can expect them to work the flanks, and kolarov (touch wood) will be overlapping. he's ideal because he can cover kolarov and use his combination of bulk and craft in midfield.

================

Quite simply, the most ridiculous comment I've read for a while.
Passing - No
Goals - No
Assists - No

Agreed - cannot see why anyone would think differently

All this talk about Nige v Barry just goes to show that football is all about opinions. Lots of people disagreeing on who is best (although Nige seems to come out on top). It just goes to show you how difficult the managers job is!
