We will just see, De Jong offers almost nothing to the team. He doesn't even make that many tackles Masherano made like 3x as many as him

I love De Jong but he's a hugely limited player, plenty of ball winners out there who can also play a bit as well.

The problem is a lot of people just think of De Jong as a ball winner and while thats obviously one of his best assets his positioning and pressing of opponents when they have the ball is just as impressive and much more so than Gareth Barry IMO. You don't always have to win the ball to be effective but as a defensive midfield player you need to make sure the other team has little time on the ball as possible and closing them down and making their options limited in front of them is just as important than making a tackle

Barry uses the ball better but he's not as mobile as De Jong and doesn't close down opponants as well as De Jong

Barry was average at best last season, and thats a flattering statement.

He is an extremely overrated footballer and has been ever since capello started picking him for england. Hes too slow and isnt mobile enough, even his overhyped passing ability isnt up to much.

Barry or Nige? Anyone with half a footballing brain knows Nige is better.

Nige cant play hollywood passes, course thats a necessity in his position, because that Mascherano fella sprays the ball round like Xavi right?
