Put in another bid for £20m, take it or leave it - we have the strong hand now that the player has indicated a desire to leave the club.

spot on mate.

It will be similar to the SWP to Chelsea affair. Bid gets rejected, player says he wants to go, buying club come back with a slightly bigger offer and selling club says they dont want to keep any player at the club who wants to go. If our original offer was £20 million as reported then I would expect this to get done for about £23 million. If Villa are still demanding upwards of £25 million I would hope we would walk away!

oneill is shitting himself coz we aint gone back with a bigger offer.if he cant sell he cant buy...we should go back with the same bid an say take it or leave it,you got 24 hours.

A lot of people on here are saying we should spend £20 million on him but imo that is way too much for an average player. He has had 1 good season at the top level just like Ireland, does this mean Irelands worth £20 million? no. His only quality is that he works hard apart from that what would he bring to the side? He isnt a top passer of the ball, he hasnt got blistering pace, doesnt score a considerable amount of goals. I dont understand what the fascination is with him, just because hes English and works hard. That cant be enough to warrant £20-30 million, just because we've got the money doesnt mean we should buy whoevers available. As you can tell i wont be happy if we sign him but not everyone agrees with every signing

I'll b pissed of if spnd £30 mill on this guy £25 mill is the top top amount for this guy and I wouldn't want any of our players going the other. You weaken the compertition not strengthen them

Even £25m is pretty steep!

Although I guess the fee isn't such an issue really when you have a bottom-less pit of money :)

I think he can do a good job for us. Time will tell I guess.

That's just knocked a good £5m off his final price then, Villa are fucked now, they either sell him for less than what they wanted, or keep an unhappy player

What is wrong with you guys? He may be overpriced but he'd still be an excellent addition, not every signing can be a big-name flair player, we can't have a team full of egos with attitude problems...every successul team needs a player like Milner

Fair play to Milner in all this, he has gone about engineering a move in the right way, thinking it over in quiet keeping away from any media, then notifying his current manager of his ntentions, also fair play to O'neill as well, I seem to rememeber with the Barry transfer he let the player go without doing a "Moyes". If a player wants to leave a club its best all round if he does go, O'neill clearly realises this.
On Milner I'd love him at City, like I've already mentioned in this thread on a couple of occasions, imo he'll be a fans favourite, the way he plays is infectious, and I can see him being an ever present in our ever improving side, whilst great players will inevetibly come and go, Milner will just blend into the background doing a great job for the club whilst he's at it. Come on City, looks like we've been given the green light.
