Re: city make milner bid (SSN)

£20m for a player who has had a good 9 months, What a f*cking joke! We would get a far better player for less money elsewhere, I hope Villa turn the bid down, They can keep James f*cking Milner!

I do.

The Lescott affair taught me not to underestimate the price that we will now pay for players.

yeah true i do agree with you but when you think going back to the robbie deal we paid 32 million for a supposed world class player and milner who yes could be a brilliant player with him only being 22-23 but is not world class it beggers belief!
Aaaah but here's the difference.

We had the upper hand with the Robbie negotiations. They were getting rid of a troublesome player (ignore everything that happened at City and that argument, he'd just had a press conference saying he defiantly wanted to leave, he was a problem for them), and so when our bid went in, they were always going to accept.

With Milner, we have 3 months and several teams interested, Villa hold all the aces, so the only way to get our man is to give into them, and rather quickly, before the other clubs join in.

Re: city make milner bid (SSN)

I like Milner, he's a quality player but I seem to remember Mark Hughes saying last year that Villa accepted our first bid for Barry and Hughes was crowing that we would have gone a lot higher. MoN and the Villa board won't have forgot that in a hurry and I expect them to squeeze us for every penny.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a Lescot type scenario were we pay way over the odds and the fans start comparing him to his over inflated fee.

Lescot is a top quality player yet he gets loads of stick off blues purely because of his huge transfer fee, unfairly imo.

Fuck a Lescott type saga, that had me going off my head.

It got to the point where I couldn't have cared less if he had signed or not.

MON is no Moyes though, he's complained about his transfer budget, maybe he'll accept £25m?

Your right Stony. We have the cash but we can't just give in to every club with stupid prices being thrown about.
