It will be interesting to see if Milner plays for England, what if he gets injured?

I think his "slight back injury might make a reappearance.

you're probably right, it's a hope beyond hope. but for some reason all the signals I'm getting are that the Milner is beyond the point of no return, but the Ireland deal might still have some distance to run. It could just be Villa needing to agree terms with the boy, it could be more than that.

I'm just saying to the city fans; hold on, don't go beserk over this deal just yet, the reported figure might not be all that reliable.
Why would we go berserk? We get the player we want and Ireland gets 1st team football. Ireland is not going to play in front of AJ or Silva is he?

What am I missing? The starting 11 today is probably close to Mancini's first eleven (although I suspect he may not play Tevez, De Jong etc. next sat as he doesnt think they're quite fit enough). Therefore where the hell does Milner fit in - dont tell me the wing as we have SWP, Johnson A and Bellamy and as for centre midfield we have Vieira, ireland, Johnson M etc. to step in.

Cheers mate. Sounds confident, hopefully they will get done. Plus, i loved what the Valencia boss said about us....

"On a worldwide scale the only comparison has been Real Madrid, but City have even gone beyond that now,'' he said. "They are creaming off some of the biggest players in the world. The investment has bought them a squad of great players and now they are definite contenders to win the title in England.

"It takes more than just investment of course but certainly in the Premier League I would regard them as being at the same level as both Chelsea and Manchester United.''

hehe :D

That's simple. Milner in for Barry.

why would you take one of the better players out of the first 11?

Milner would start ahead of SWP or Johnson, in Mancinis thinking it would seem anyway.

Bellamy is almost certainly going (Unfortunately) If you believe press reports SWP might end up going - to Liverpool or even Arsenal.

Surely this deal has been left so late to make it more difficult for Villa to spend the money. I cant see any other reason, we clearly dont care what we pay really, so it cant be the money thats held up the deal.

I still think on the advertised terms this is a terrible deal for city.

In hindisght it might look OK if Ireland plays like he did for us last season and we get the same sort of performances Villa got out of Milner last year.

Considering our other business this summer this is a pretty hugh risk deal for us considering the player we are losing. Like I said before the best I can make out of it is reliability and versatility. Milner can play across the centre and out wide. Ireland can only play behind a forward and throughout his city career has been hot and cold. Milner seems a 110% type of player like Tevez but without the outstanding ability.

I will reserve judgement he has to be a better buy tha n the likes of Robinho and RSC, lets see what he can do. A midfield of Milner, De Jong and yaya should be hard to break down if nothing else. In fact out of our probable starting 11 only Ade and Silva look unwilling to run through brick walls really.

Heres a few videos of Milner i like.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIDScrUSeno" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIDScrUSeno</a> - Especially at 2:30. very nice work.

definately a great all rounder. can take free kicks/penalties, can beat his man with the ball, high work rate, can play various positions.

great buy. bit pricey, but he will do well. although he may find it hard backing up the young player of the year award performances. i guess we will have to wait and see.
