Milner update.

notw has a lot of unlikely City stories one of which is an amended player plus cash for Milner.

Some of the city fans on here these days are horrendous, the way people show disregard to other clubs is shocking.

This self hatred of our own is just as horrendous.

It's not arrogant to think that Villa are taking the piss with their valuation of Milner.

It's not arrogant to think that they want this sale as much, maybe even more than we do.

We've been through this before with SWP, if anyone knows how the business works it's us.

Wouldn't mind so much if it was just other clubs using the "arrogant supporters" line, but so many of our own have bought into it.

Well said!

WTF? Nobody is saying Villa can't ask for £30 mill. Of course they have every right.

Quite right, when you come after one of players who is halfway through a four year contract and central to our manager's plans we are going to quote you a prohibitive and inflated price. If you want him you'll have to pay over the odds and to those saying "make them a take it or leave it offer", well I wish you bloody well would because we'd leave it and can then get on with pre-season.

And City have every right to tell them to do one for taking the absolute piss

Who is making the approach for the player? You can't go into someone house, ask them to sell you something they don't want to part with and then moan that they want too much for it, it's pure
arrogance
and the opposite of
.
Utter pisstake.
Indeed.

Oi, Villans, bloody well grow up.

Haha, the irony. It's business and please remember we don't want or need to sell, no matter what dross you read in the media. Our issue isn't transfer funds, it's our wage bill. The wages have to be sustained by the club's income because that is our business model, hence wanting to unload highly paid fringe players. Transfer funds are a seperate thing entirely so 'sell to buy' isn't what it seems and that's why we don't need to sell Milner in order to finance other deals.

As for leaving an unsettled player, Jimmy is the complete professional and will be just fine if he stays. As City fans you should be familiar with the first rule of football supporters: Don't believe the media.

Great post moomba.

A few on here need to take down the fucking halo they think they have above their heads!

Football is a business and all we are trying to do is conduct business, just like every other club does, albiet on a different level financially.

Why haven't you strengthened your squad yet? i mean if you want to push on then it needs adding to right?

I think you do need our money to buy players tbh. I think Randy has the purse strings tight this summer.

I bought into it because i see it day in day out, posters like pam, who think we have a right to everyone, when really we dont.

You cant compare the sweep transfer to milner, totally different scenario's.

its not arrogant, but villa have told us their valuation for the player, so we either up it or fuck off, rather than unsettling other clubs players.

-- Sun Aug 01, 2010 10:54 am --

tell us what halo mate?

Thinking and hoping we just move on now. May be older but Arteta might be a better short term option. Milner will be available again, his relationship with MoN is bust so Jan or next summer he will move and the fee will be a lot less than £30m. Villa made a stand with Gareth Barry but they lost out financially and hopefully that will happen again here.
