Lack of games!! Somebody should tell him how many he has played this season

Yeah that is daft, better to play 40 games than 65.

He's started 12 in the league and 3 in Europe though. That's not enough when you've got other England players in your position getting a lot more exposure. We've managed him and Richards badly in that regard.

Yeah well, he's not good enough to be a regular for us.

I can't stand it when players who are limited in their abilities complain about playing time.

I do have this thought that Milner has got City cornered here because he knows this summer our homegrown quota is going to diminish significantly and how important it is going to be to us in next seasons Champions League.

I just have a feeling he wants a massive pay rise because he knows letting him go would mean that we have to go out and spend ridiculous money on a new homgrown player, he will know that we only have 49m to spend this summer and that has to get us a central defender, defensive midfielder and a back up right back.

This is his agent doing dirty work in my opinion, FFP has got us by the neck and we are going to be forced into paying Milner a ridiculous wage to stay.

Re: James Milner

Every good team needs a milner type player but if he wants to play CM ... toodles.
But seriously, you can always tell when its end of season, how many players leaving us, is it now?

If that is the case then let him go.

I think he's getting a bit big for his boots if he thinks he deserves to be a genuine first team regular, he's not even close to the likes of Silva or Nasri. The sad reality is that the only reason anyone is particularly bothered at the thought of losing him is because he's English and homegrown, ability wise he's very solid, but ultimately unremarkable. Can you imagine a Bayern Munich or Barcelona giving him more game time than us? God I hate this HG rule, it's inflating the market far more than we ever have

Correct and right.

Like GDM has said, I'd rather keep him another year than let him leave for £10M.
Why do clubs think they can get our players cheap ? He's an England international wanted by two of the top 4 and a couple of clubs aspiring to reach the top 4. He's at his peak with at least another 6 years left in him. We would be utter mugs to let him go for anything under £20M

Our hands may be tied.

Our current regime have done a lot of good but have played with fire leaving Dzeko, Milner, Kolarov, and Nasri going into the summer with 12 months left on their contract.

Re: James Milner

Think it's more to do with the fact that Lescott and Richards could both be off than where he plays. It's only when he's cast out of the England squad will it be about playing time and positioning. I suspect he will become isolated when Lescott and Richards move on. You only have to look at inside city videos to get an idea of things... Every team has their cliques. Only other ones are Hart and Kompany but they strike me as the sort who will just get on with it.

If he wants to leave, I would allow him to out of respect to the service he's done to the club, but would make it clear he can't be sold off to a team we are competing with... So sell him to United;)

i think the biggest factor in thesis that he wants to play in the middle his natural position. gutted to see him potentially leave. we really do have a problem with english players and its gonna make it harder to sign them- why would they come here knowing we dont have any
WE don't have a problem with english players at all, the real problem is "english players", Milner is one of the best available, a great trier, but ultimately he doesn't start because he's not good enough in any one position.

Re: James Milner

Let's be honest; hands up anyone who gets upset if Milner doesn't start? Not me for sure!

The problem for Milner is that at a club like City he is 2nd or 3rd choice in any position he feels is his best. It's just the way it is. If he wants to go and vacate us of his £5m salary well I'm sure Ross Barkley would like to get the gig!
