Milners average

Agree with the OP , Milner seems to be an average run-of-the-mill workmanlike type player , lacking the real craft and ability to pick a defence splitting forward pass that we really need .

For a 23-year old he has an exceptional footballing brain.

He has two good feet and is versatile.

He keeps things ticking over and is always busy and looking to create.

He never goes missing during games and his work ethic is second to none (especially for a creative player).

By all accounts he's a model pro so can be guarenteed to provide calm and stability off the pitch as well as on.

His pass selection is superb and he varies it to good effect.

If I was that way inclined I would probably bum him.

he never goes missing during games? i player watched him 4 a bit when he came 2 our end and he was shit. dominated and outclassed by a nowadays average patrick vieira

just dont want us wasting anymore money.

Why?

Even though City are being ripped off it feels like I'm being ripped off. That's how I treat company money too, it's not my money but I treat it as I would my own, with the same respect. And thats how I think football fans should treat their club's money too. City fans boasting with our money, calling us money bags etc. makes me cringe, it's disrespectful. We are lucky, lets get best value for money.

hes an average player
In your opinion.

Mine as well. He is a cut above the average England midfielder, but that doesn't say a lot if they were trying to crowbar the 35yr-old Ginger Pig back into the fold. And I'm a little mystified that if you have a top class midfielder in the pack, why play him at full back. If Aston Villa are playing hardball, then WALK, let someone else have him.

Were he good enough he would have been snaffled by the big clubs when he was sixteen, a là Trevor Francis and the Scouse Granny sgghera.

This has all been discussed on other threads. He certainly divides opinions. I don't think he's worth it, but if the boss thinks he is and has him already on the team sheet, then let's see how he gets on. I bet there were plenty who thought Bellamy would be a disaster.

its his lack of real craft that is my concern.....

if we were to pair him with a real creative player then ok.....but if he is going to be our creative influence in the midle of the park then im not sure he is good enough

I would Milner is a very very good player. His stats speak for themselves, furthermore he is the only Eglish player in his generation that has stepped up to the mark internationally. When fat fwank and starfish retire, this lad is the future of the England midfield.
