Misheard Lyrics

"Got on a lucky one. Came in eighteen to one." Fairytale of New York.

I only found out a few months ago that this was the lyric. For thirty years I'd assumed he sings "came in at ten to one" which is a more common price for a horse. I remember in the 1990's at a pub quiz there was a question, " What was the price of the winning bet in Fairytale of New York?". Every team put ten to one and that was also given as the correct answer. I doubt the quizmaster would have gotten away with that now, with everyone checking it on their phones.

1986 at work, bloke comes up to me and says ''You like The Smiths don't you?''
I replied ''yes'' and he asks me
''who is Hank?''
''What?''
''Who is Hank?''
''No idea what you are on about''
''That Smiths song they keep playing on the radio.... Hank the DJ.....''
