Missing woman Nicola Bulley - inquest (P 158)

Still a personal circumstance that need not be made public.
I'm not sure myself it's that personal, in this day and age of encouraging people to speak up about natural changes to our minds and bodies, it's generally been met with a lot of understanding from the majority. I can understand why someone would want their medical records to remain private of course, in normal life, but this isn't a normal situation and the bits of gossip that journalists and wannabees were piecing together maybe forced the police and family to release this information.

I don't think there's any example you can give that justifies the police releasing her medical information.

Even if they really felt they had to release her private information (for some unbeknownst reason), they didn't have to go into vivid detail. What's wrong with saying 'we have accessed Nicola's medical records and we're using the information to support the investigation'.

If she was my wife, I'd be absolutely fuming. I'd be suing the police force for every penny I could get.

It was all being drip fed through social media

Agree completely. They were forced into this direction by all the amateur sleuths, breaking news journos and and sad youtubers and tiktokkers.

It’s not a great mystery. It's a case of a women in distress who has in very likely come to a premature end by accident (slipping and falling), misadventure or clearly intended suicide.

I'd imagine there would plenty of cases like this that don't receive press coverage and remains are found soon after they go missing.

Public interest defence. It was necessary to release this information in order to prevent further crime and disorder being carried out by the sad bastard content creators going to investigate and causing further nuisance.

Police initially painted Nicola to be an ordinary woman/mum healthy strong swimmer who dropped her children off to school before taking the dog on a morning walk who suddenly vanished.

Lots of people related themselves to Nicola by doing these exact same daily duties and thought that could have been me. People are then seeking to find some kind of close that never came hence speculation theory etc.

Police 3 weeks later come out making Nicola look unstable, hormonal issues, alcohol issues making public think hmm maybe this was her own doing she’s actually not like me to help stop speculation bla bla.

I watched the press conference where they only alluded to her state of mind (i.e. her medical state) and expressed how no further details were going to be released and the first questions from the journos were "what were they?", "why weren't WE told?". They did exactly what you have suggested. It was later on that it was reported in more detail in the media about her condition and alcohol issues, after a further police statement (I believe). People are just nosy and if they don't get an answer make one up.

Pretty sure I have read that the family asked the police to release the details as 'friends' were going to sell the story to the press which therefore forced the hand of the police / family. If anyone is to blame it's the amateur detectives, the social media twats and the press.
