I don't think he is. He is there , with Lanc Police blessing to determine whether there is a body in the water or not. He will have been fully briefed as to what info he can say to the press

Yes it's a very strong assumption to make. I guess it's the small timescale from her last action and the phone being found. They must have checked a lot of data in that area in the timescale mentioned and found nothing suspicious, or any signs of somebody entering or leaving there in a vehicle, which for an abduction is the likely scenario. For her to just vanish so quickly points to the fact she somehow ended up in the water. A seizure, heart attack, stroke as she was by the edge would have proved fatal if she fell in, regardless of how serious that was on its own.

Of course being local with knowledge she could have known about the blind spot and used it to leave but that sounds far fetched, but who knows?

Personally I didn’t like the Policewoman her attitude was speculating she fell in the river

How far from this spot is the mouth of the river and how long would it take to reach it?

Several miles, but with it being so windy with shallow banks (as well as a weir), I'm not sure a body would make it out to the Irish Sea. More likely get grounded on a bank along the way

The diving expert searching is convinced she wouldn't have been swept out to sea yet if she was in the river.
