Wrong age profile. We don't need to sign players that are 28 and overspend because of their off field importance to their club.

Having said that, I can't help but think we're shopping at a tier lower than we used to. Buying players that have done quite well for a mid table side. When we bought Sterling, he'd been a key part of a team that almost won the league. When we bought Mahrez, he'd won the league and won at least one of the POTS awards in the process. When we bought KDB, he was the best player in the Bundesliga. Bernardo Silva had just won Ligue 1 and got to the semi-finals of the Champions League with a French team. The equivalent now would be us buying Saka (or Haaland, to be fair). Now we're linked with players that have done pretty well for Wolves, Leeds, West Ham, etc. And don't get me wrong, occasionally you'll unearth a gem from teams like that, but we do need to also be buying stuff from the top shelf occasionally too.

It's a bit deceptive in that West Ham have been buying better players than usual due to having more cash befor and after the Rice sale. Paqueta is another player they wouldn't have usually been able to obtain and but for the betting allegations he might have come here already.

We can only buy from selling clubs. Wolfsburg, Monaco and Dortmund are set up as selling clubs.

Gone are the days of us buying Arsenal or Liverpool's important players.

We could do it but we just don’t have the nuts if required to do it? Would we do £125m on Musiala if that was the fee? I doubt it personally

Bowen isn't better than Kudus in any way. Not sure how this is even an argument. Maybe Bowen is better in Fantasy football ratings or some other metric but from the regular football metric that every football fan base their assessment on, Kudus is miles ahead. It's not even up for debate.

Got season ticket mates at the Hammers, know some others too, most agree Bowen is the better player even if Kudus is the more talented

They say he has a worldie in him, and can dribble past half a team but he goes down blind alleys, often goes for goal when a better option is available, runs down blind alleyways, can be lazy, makes stupid challenges when running back

Bowen isn't as flashy but he's a 7/10 player, gives his all is always a threat, makes intelligent runs, brings the team up the pitch, scores and assists regularly, is their penalty taker, covers more ground than anyone on the pitch, fittest on the team, does the defensive work

So yea, it's up for debate unless you go off twitter fans saying who's better for YouTube highlight reels instead dof watching 90 minutes
 
We could sign Bowen, Kudus, Nico Williams, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr, Wirtz and Musiala. But it still wouldn’t solve our problems about conceding goals and getting hit on the break and therefore would be a waste of money.
And you could add Palmer to that list.

Yeah, Bowen is class. He’d do far more in a City team than Kudus. He’s like Doku where his highlights real looks great.Bowen is a more complete team player. We’ve spent plenty on shite with no resale value so i don’t think a 28 year old proven player would be a problem in our current state
 
I dont mind 1 signing for the attack as a CF/Winger backup, but id rather buy 5 or 6 defensive minded players before an attacker.

Imo Kevin is the only attacking player to replace as a priority in the future, the majority of our aging players are centre midfielders or defenders.

Also, I think we could do something smart here using the youth as winger backups, literally the safest position to mold them.

Wanna make it clear, dont think we should be signing Bowen because of his age & cost, and while I rate him and think he'd add a lot to us, it's only now when we are in a poor position, we should be aiming higher for what he'd cost

That aside, he's better than Kudus is at least now and he's better suited to us

We should be aiming for a Kvaratskhelia, Musiala, Rodrygo etc, that's the calibre of player we should be trying to get IF we are going to spend £80mil on guys like Kudus or Bowen
