Monaco - Post Match thread.

Still can't sleep. Still can't quite come to terms with how bad that performance was.

Honestly. In a season of poor performances that one hurts the most.

Mods - I'm properly not in the mood for this smug cnut tonight. He was a giant sized twat after the first leg, and I can't imagine he'll do anything other than WUM non-stop tonight. Ban him please

You were arrogant as fuck after first leg when I just came nicely to discuss and follow Man City's results and analysis of their fans.
We knocked you out by caming back from a 2 goal-deficit without Falcao and Glik, you should learn a lesson from that instead keep being a dush.

Yes, i'm a "smug ****" with people like you, cause karma is a woman :)

Why on earth was Sagna at left back playing mbappe onside for the first goal when the cross came from our right?

Wow, looks like Sagna actually got found out on this forum at last. I've been saying for some time - the guy is wooden, has absolutely nothing to offer. Bang average geriatric defender, and Monaco 1st half especially - showed him to be exactly that. I'd say he was chasing shadows - but actually - he can't even do that.

Don't you think we should have been more solid in cm from the off? Monaco needed goals, we played into their hands.

I was amazed we didn't solidify the middle more. It's no coincidence that once kdb started to drop much, much deeper in the second half we completely controlled the game and it was our shit defending that undid us. Again.

Crazy tactics, an attacking line up in the first half that couldn't attack because it was way too top heavy.

No, I do think we will strengthen the defence this summer. We have to. It's been obvious for 2 or 3 years. And my post was actually defending Pep due to the limitations of squad he's forced to wrk with. If we want to be a top level European club we currently (this summer) need a minimum of:

1x Goalkeeper (arguably 2 - 1 first choice and 1 quality 'reserve' if Willy moves on)
3x full backs (1 for each side and another as cover)
2x centre backs (to replace Vinny and another as back up with Otamendi)
2x centre mids (Yaya getting older, ditto Silva, ditto Dinho)
2x forwards (cover for Jesus and Aguero as Jesus is too young to play 60+ games and Sergio gets injured a lot).

That's this summer if we want to give our manager the best chance to compete. Not to mention possible cover for players who may leave like Delph perhaps.

To wait years for Pep and then tie his hands behind his back like we have is verging on criminal.

We don't need that many players as you suggested but we still need a fair few to have a quality squad.

This summer
1x Keeper
2x Fb
1x cb
1x cm

Any change left over and I think another young winger/forward is needed. That will set us up nicely, if we buy young players. Our defence gets a lot of stick but our midfield isn't too healthy looking. Toure, silva and Fernandinho are getting on, gundogans fucked, Fernando and Delph not good enough, de bruynes hit and miss this season. I think buying one fresh face would do this summer for the midfield.

Garcia
Fernandinho
Toure
Gundogan
Silva
De bruyne

What do you change from that, do you get rid of toure or Fernandinho and get someone like weigl or Fabinho in. Fuck being txiki and pep this summer, they've got some decisions to make.

It's difficult to disagree with a word of that.

As I said in an earlier post I am beginnning to think (actually started to think it a while ago) that Pep has had the job at city sold to him under hugely false pretences.

To give a manager who is the best in the world, a job at the most scrutinised club on the planet, in the hardest league to win in the world, a squad that contains players like Kolorov,Sagna, clichy as regular starters, not to mention an aging Yaya, Silva, Kompany, as well as a limited Ottamendi, and an injury prone Aguero and say "go on mate, the entire world is watching, crack on" was negligent in the extreme.

Seriously, I feel sorry for him. He is clearly a decent and honourable man, but privately I would bet my life that he is fuming at the job he has been handed.

I agree with this but Pep knew what he was taking over and he will be given the chance to make changes this summer.

Peps hands have been tied as the deadwood like Yaya, Kolorov etc are all on silly contracts but some of those have run down and will be expiring.

There is no way regardless of tonight's results wed have beaten the likes of Bayern or Barca so I think we just need to concentrate on top 4 and keep the faith for next season.

Pep clearly has a plan and the club will provide him with the tools to implement it.
