Monaco - Post Match thread.

Nah , not having that at all.

You can throw tactics out of the window when Key players have a day off.
Fernandinho was dreadful as was De Bruyne and Silva went AWOL.
We had no hub. We were there for the taking. We had the 2 goal lead and there was simply no need to be that wide open.

And if you say this player or that player was out of sorts why the fuck not take them off.

Pep got this badly wrong.

Whatever happen in that first half was the worst we have ever been under Pep. No leaders in that team to lead us when we needed and to organise the team when needed this has killed us all season long under Pep. Kompany is a huge huge loss to this team for the leadership and Joe Hart too.

Second half we were better granted but we fucked up at home to concede 3 goals at home is a joke. The same yesterday some of the mistakes are getting to be a joke. Pep will sort it his way he will make more changes were in transition but just some things we should be doing better. He will be given time to sort it out I would expect let him buy the players he needs. Rome wasnt built in a day as they say. This time next season under Pep we will be a lot better.

We were pushed back in the first half and even though we had marginally greater possession most of it was in our own half. Sane and Sterling forced to come back leaving Aguero isolated with two defenders doubling up. However, this was the necessary scenario for Monaco. If they were gonna succeed they had to start like a house on fire, and from our initial set up, the general tactics and the performances of some of our players it all conspired to hand Monaco the advantage they were hoping for. At 70 mins and the tie in our pocket it was time to shut up shop - difficult for us to do against the softest opposition! Fernando should have come on, but within the game of football a blind man can see what teams are upto, and from the minute Monaco regained the tie they resort to falling over with the slightest contact, taking minutes to make a sub, none of which seems to get added on these days, and all in all we chucked it!

Gutted. To throw away a 2 goal lead in the manner they did is pathetic. Failure to change things earlier than he did is entirely on Pep as is the bizarre decision to drop yaya, zab and otamendi.

Pep's had an absolute mare here and cost us big time. He left our midfield so open, and once again he was far too slow to react.

Silva, De Bruyne, Kolarov, Aguero, Fernandinho, Clichy and Sagna are not good enough for a team with CL ambitions.

Spot on Bill.

Lets not sugar coat last night. Pep got it spectacularly wrong with that selection.

That first 45 mins was one of the worst ive watched as we might as well have stayed in the changing rooms and whilst we did much better 2nd half, yet again key players cant hit a barn door and the one time we need to defend we go missing in action yet again.

Congrats to Monaco as they has some great players and frankly, they wanted it far more than we did last night which is damning on everyone connected with the club last night im afraid.

He should have hooked De Bruyne after 20 mins

Made to look rather ordinary by a younger, faster team who were more comfortable on the ball. That was us against Dortmund in 2012, and that was us against Monaco in 2017.

What are you talking about....we absolutely dominated them in the second half.
We were certainly better in the second half
We had the same amount of goals in the second half
The first half we were over run and couldn't respond

Silva? Aguero? De Bruyne fernadinho are definitely good enough. The other 3 I agree with you but to be fair clichy and sagna are well past their best
