Monaco - Post Match thread.

Absolutely this.
We have a 2 goal lead. We only need to keep the ball, play on the break.yaya Is perfect for that. He leaves him out.
After 10 mins it's obvious it's not working,he doesn't change it . half time comes and we are still in it. He doesn't change it. We Score and now lead, good time to shore it up,he does nothing.
Sorry but this was entirely down to Pep.
Ýeh the players were poor but only can sub
them.

Genius my arse.
Nah , not having that at all.

You can throw tactics out of the window when Key players have a day off.
Fernandinho was dreadful as was De Bruyne and Silva went AWOL.

Slept on it. Still fucking furious.

Complete bottle job by the players and shit tactics from Pep.

Scousers will rip us a new arsehole on Sunday.

Just got up, hung over and still fuming!!!!! The wide open space between defence and attack was appauling in the first half, midfield non existant. Yaya was a must for me to get hold and keep the ball. Pep got it very wrong first half!

Leave them all on the pitch for as long as possible then, that should do the trick. Should have had yaya on for kdb frankly at any point of that game you choose to mention imo.

Fernandinho awful?!? You try being the only defending midfield player with effectively 5 city attackers in front of you away from home and being peppered by fast skilful midfielders. He needed help and was left on his own.

pep needs to learn pragmatism, there was no need to fight fire with fire when you have a 2 goal lead.

to score 6 over 2 legs and still lose tells you all you need to know

not to diss monaco in any way, they are a very good team with exciting players going forward, but they conceded 6 also

that first half is, well the worst i've witnessed since the takeover, did we even get in their area?

He could not stay on his feet first half.

He does have a tendency to fluff his lines in the very big games.

The whole world watched PSG try to defend a 4 goal lead last week and fail, but Pep thought we could go to the home of the top scoring side in Europe and defend a 2 goal lead?

We can't defend. It's very simple. Nothing over the course of the last 7 months has indicated that we are any good at shutting up shop. The only time we ever look good is when we attack the opposition. This in itself forces them back and limits their goalscoring opportunities.

We made the mistake of trying to defend and quickly ended up behind in the tie. Monaco then made the same mistake, they sat back and we went ahead again. How stupid do you have to be to not see that we should have kept attacking them? But no, we sat off again and got what we deserved for such an incompetent tactical display.

Defend the lead, Pep thought that we could? Was this the same Pep who said we couldn't do that, and that we must score? We weren't set-up for that and a lot of posters on here are saying that's what we should have been set-up for! Moanaco were superb in the first half we couldn't get the ball and when we did we were sloppy. Pep played KDB deeper in second half and we forced Monaco back and created a number of gilt-edged chances, that we failed to convert it should have been 8-6 for us at least. Yes it was poor defending for their third, Pep was fuming about that on the touchline an indication that the players had failed to carry out instructions? Oh well! From a personal point of view Id rather get knocked out playing in the style that we do than the Kick and Rush Champions. Good luck to Monaco another team that plays in a style that should be applauded

Don't know why we didn't just bottle up at the back and invite pressure. Surely with tank-like, unassailable defenders like Gael Clichy, Alex Kolarov, Nicolas Otamendi and Bacary Sagna on the squad, and with world class shot stopper Willy Caballero between the sticks, there was no way a team who doesn't score often like Monaco would get two.
