When VR comes in that decision will be given a penalty as it should be.

Many refs get penalty decisions wrong given where they are positioned at the time.

In saying that I thought the ref was poor overall.
 
It was stonewall penalty that that bastard of a ****ing ref couldn't wait to not give.

As shown by pulling out the yellow card almost as quick as his cock went from 6 to midnight. Whereas he took all day and spoke with the extra officials to give them one.

I'm not sure. I came away thinking we'd have won comfortably but for ref, but apart from booking Aguero I think he got most things right. Too many cards because the game was played in fantastic spirit. Obviously I hope we beat Monaco, but I do admire the way they play the game. I haven't seen all out commitment to attack from a visiting team like that before

Without the linesmen " convincing him " it was a penalty for them he would have got that decision incorrect as well and clearly Sterling was pushed twice in the box and upon review it would have given a penalty.

Not sure what you are not sure about unless you disagree with those decisions but again I am sure upon VR review we would have got two penalty decisions today.
 
You know why the players and Pep celebrated as if they were already through.

In sports when a team gave all like Monaco and still lost their wills are broken. They die.

But we only started to believe.

Perhaps the beginning of your post, if i read you correctly, provides the answer to their problems tonight. You can watch whichever 2 or 3 of their games this season (you won't need more unless you want to study them thoroughly) and you'll understand what I mean (with the exception, of course, to their heavy defeat at Nice which was an one off; there's an explanation for that but I won't get into it at the moment, we're already off topic). It's not about lack of discipline, clearly it isn't. Jardim trusts his team, was confident enough to field 2 SC at the Etihad (the second one not even being Germain...). He trusted in his attacking game, believed his team would score -as it happened. But he also trusted in his defensive structure. He knew Yaya would basically stay deep, so thought our numerical advantage in midfield wouldn't be a big deal. As far as I am concerned, he underestimated the quality of our attacking game, the kind of situations we can produce in small spaces which theoretically seem covered. It could have been even worse provided we had the sharpness to feed David / Kevin in advanced areas more often from behind, every time we did that a combination was ready to unfold. Another thing he didn't expect was Aguero's game tonight, if you ask me. Moving deep, avoiding his markers, Sergio became an excellent reference upfront, setting up runners from behind, occasionally first touch, occasionally in a totally unpredictable manner. Monaco had no answer to that. When you release a player like David running at you facing the net, with players like Raheem / Leroy moving in space, either cutting in or staying more wide, a through ball will most certainly occur...

Plus, as I said, they probably felt it was over after 61', like we wouldn't have the mental strength to respond again...

Anyway, I'm not going to say he'll be regretting his initial game plan, but I bet he will watch again and again and again the 2nd half so as to explain his team's behaviour. To use your words, I wouldn't be surprised if he would feel "guilty" for not swiching to a 3-man midfield in the process, for example. So as to control the game more effectively...

Amazing night, we should have built on our first half lead, should have been dead and buried with their penalty, then showed some real balls after going 2-3 after equalising, as did Stones after the f*ck up for their 3rd. Played some wonderful attacking football (as did they).

We are so lucky, we get to see some really mad mad games of football, tonight was another that will be long remembered.

Anyone for a 0-0 away ? No thought not.

Great spirit tonight, fantastic win & great to see Sergio get his mojo back. He made a complete arse, fresh air shot of a simple tap in, early doors, which was typical of his recent form, but if he'd had the same chance 80 mins in, it would be in the back of the net, no problem at all. He even passed to Sane rather than going for a hat trick. Fantastic to see. Hopefully that's him sorted now, as we need him.

I don't think we were anywhere near our best tonight. Monaco were great & would cause us problems on any occasion, but some of the positions we got into, & fucked up the final pass, we could have had ten. The return of Sergio turned the game when we threatened to chuck it away.

All of their goals, whilst great finishes, were due to individual defending of the absolute worst kind, which has been our problem all season. Fuck all to do with back 3s or the tactic of 'passing the ball out' just utter shite play. Watched a recording of the game & it confirmed that Otamendi was fucking diabolical. Dunney recons he's a lost cause with basically no idea how to defend.

To win under such circumstances is fantastic.

City are a high profile, top European club now & the only one in that bracket, who wouldn't get that penalty. Put Aguero in any rag, scouse, Barca, Real, Bayern, Milan, Juve etc shirt & he gets that pen 1000 times out of 1000. It's a fucking joke the way these people are reffing our games.

I don't need VR to see that one was debatable and one was the correct call. The keeper touched the ball first on the Aguero call and the Sterling one is a good defending,

I thought the Ref did ok. On the Kun pen debate, the replay clearly shows the keeper touched and moved the ball in a different direction before making any contact.

Did the keeper move the ball in a different trajectory and also keep his feet close to the ground after making contact with the ball and before making any sort of contact with Kun ? Yes he did.

Debatable pen for me. Scum would probably have been awarded it unless playing Barca or Real but it is what it is. We didn't need it in the end so alls good. Ridiculous booking though.

Monaco were formidable their Silva was excellent as was Falcao and Mdippe
