Monaco post match

Seriously, whoever says Augero's incident isn't a stonewall penalty need to watch the reply with glasses on...
Keeper didn't even touch the ball, Augero changed its direction to avoid the keeper and it merely scuffed the tiny tip of keeper's boot. Even then, Auguro was fouled and denied chasing the ball. That's 1000% penalty.
As much as it pains me to say he starts going down a split second before contact is made. It's the kind of 'winning/gaining' a penalty that I don't like to see.

Just showed the Aguero pen claim. It was not a pen. But Aguero should not have been booked. Ref took our Aguero after getting the ball. Is that a pen? Refs never seem to give those if keeper gets a touch

Definite pen. Keeper might have got a feather touch but went right through Kun to get the ball.

If you listen to Talksport today you'd think we lost. British commentators are obsessed with clearing the ball long. Eight months in, it's still the main focus.

One of the greatest games of football I have ever seen. An absolutely fantastic game and kudos to Monaco for coming to play football.

Sane and Sterling! What can I say the two of them are almost unstoppable. Kun coming back to his best. Magic touch by Silva for the 5th goal. Willys second half display.

All up a brilliant game!

A fantastic game of football and entertainment at the highest level. This was simply out scoring the opponent when the score didn't let any other alternative. If we can't defend just score more. And we did when showing absolutely great character. This was advertisement for CL football and the competition needed it badly.

I must say I was impressed with Monaco. Strong quick and athletic. And Falcao scored a goal that you can only applaud. It is the moments in sport that you can appreciate when your own team simply doesn't give up and shows what great talents are on board. I doubt any of the managers was able to control the game. Sometimes you can't and it's best to leave it to the players to sort it.

We can anylise the mistakes and there were plenty. It happens and missing Kompany and Kolarov certainly didn't help. But why worry if our attacking line keeps scoring. It'll be a thrilling prospect in Monaco and a two goal lead is all l wanted on forehand.

Fatty Holmes and knob head parlour fucking hell who gives a shite what they think

What a great game. Entertaining from start to finish. Looked like a great atmosphere at the Etihad, gutted I couldn't make it down. Stirling was my mom with Bernando Silva and Falco looking impressive for them. They did go to pieces in the second half and I hope that we will have damaged their confidence for the second leg. If they play like that again, I am confident that we will go through. Kun grew in confidence after his first and played much better thereafter and what a great strike for his second. Sane is just a wonderful player and looks like he is having a ball. Its brilliant to see the relationship that he and Raheem are striking up. David was magnificent and yet again made a mockery of those that say he hides in big games. Kevin blew hot and cold. Was a shame that JS was bullied on their third as apart from that thought he played really well. Zaba stiffened things up considerably when he came on. Willie is making a late bid for legend status this season! Less said about Ota the better. Was buzzing and had a fricking awful sleep as a result. Was well worth it though. Enjoyed Peps dance up the touchline when we scored our 5th - contained mayhem. So our experience with referees is now leaking into the EPL. Maybe our boo punishment. Didn't think that BT punditry was that bad last night although that scouse git Macamanaman was as illogical as usual. Cant wait for the return.

Look forward to watching this later in the week when I have more time, Jardim is a bright footballing mind so the matchup was always going to be intriguing against Pep

Bring on Huddersfield! ;-)

Rushed home from work, put the game on, and kicked every ball with them! I'm exhausted, so I can only imagine how the players feel. I think that is the most complete Agüero performance I have seen in a very long time. Obviously, he was robbed of a penalty...and Yaya a goal...and I get a little frustrated that he can't get the ball to stick sometimes when we are trying to break out through him, but his work rate and battling was extraordinary, especially given the knock against him. I think Pep might have actually got it through to him that he can be better.

Hard to fault anyone that wasn't playing in goal or in the middle of the back 3-4 tonight, because that performance was an outstanding advertisement for what City can be going forward IF we can learn to lock up the back door every now and then!

The ref? Well, what can one say? Diabolical? Clueless? Arsewipe? A few Euros richer from the Asian syndicate? How do you book 10, 11, 12(?) players in a match that didn't have a dirty foul in it? Yes, there were a few tugs and arms out, but he brought ALL the dissent on himself with his poor performance. I watched it on Fox Sports in the US, and Warren Barton said the ref should never referee a top Euro game ever again.

I have one question: If the goalkeeper actually kicks Sergio, which he did, how is it possible for the ref to see (with enough certainty to book him for diving) there was no contact when there absolutely was a kick out and definite kick on Sergio's lower leg/foot?

Last I checked, it is IMPOSSIBLE to see something that isn't there, so I can only believe that either he is bent, or the goal line assistant at that end is!

Time to lock it up tight for Monaco. A nice SOLID 4-5-1 with breakaway potential, but can't out and out attack them there, or it would be suicide.
